Perhaps this makes me a bleeding heart, weepy, hand-wringing liberal Guardian reader
but once bills such as pay and maintenance have been deducted, shouldn't all available money go towards education? Why does a school need to turn a profit?

I think that if the business has publicly sold shares then they have a legal obligation to produce/maximise their profits.
