I don't think I'll dig the books, too many complicated names.

You can tell how wanky a fantasy / scifi book is going to be
by teh number of apostrophes in the characters' names.

Haha, totally.
I hate the whole "I am Arrigon, Son of Kolach, Keeper of the Realm, Lord of the Council of True Eldars and Keeper of the Dragonsword" introductions.

Or by the fact that it's described as fantasy

(, Fri 16 Mar 2012, 20:09, Reply)
untrue!
Iain M Banks does a bit of crazy naming, but he does it on purpose, wallowing inthe loveliness of sci fi tropes

Ian Banks is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

not nasty, but wrong
anyway, we;ve had this discussion before, and I am mostly talking about the sci fi
(, Fri 16 Mar 2012, 20:16, Reply)
His sci fi is probably worse than his proper fiction.

(, Fri 16 Mar 2012, 20:19, Reply)
at least he can spell iain properly

(, Fri 16 Mar 2012, 20:12, Reply)
