With Slow cookers it's not really hard to make most stews
beef + beer + veg
Top tip for you, you hardly loose any water in a slow cooker so it's worth frying the meat in butter and flour before you put the stuff in the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.

Haha, if only.
Ma' brought a 4kg salted brisket that came to £50, and by the end probably got about 2kgs worth as the it reduces. I think she got like 10 servings out of it.
The butcher is the one to salt it, hang it, and do all that, then you boil it up with carrot, onion and a few others bits that I can't remember.
