Wait a month, there are possiblities of apple announcing a budget iPad / 7" one at the WWDC.
Apple are going to do some massive things inside a month's time, and it looks like about half their products are going to get updated with the possiblity of new lines.

Cool, I love my iPad, it's only second to my laptop and mobile when it comes to most used gadget...
... and laptop doesn't really count as a gadget, it's a primary computer that I use. The iPad has changed the way I consume information.

Yup, it has wicked music'n'video'n'streaming functions, it's great at that. I plug mine into the doc thing I use it as a radio as I fall asleep.

If I could afford it, I'd upgrade to the new ipad from ipad 1, I'd only go for the 16gb one though.

but I don't need 3g/4g, wifi would be enough. i can get a 32gb ipad 3 for less than £500. It wouldn't fit in my little dock though.

4G doesn't exist in the UK at this point in time. I've no doubt that apple's move over to LTE will get the ball rolling faster this year..
... but it's a political rather than technical reason why it isn't here yet.

The big thing last year is Cloud... you have access to your entire music libary anywhere you have a connection, and have to be a little bit choosy (limiting it to a good hundred albums or soo) if you're taking it offline. That'll still give lots of room for books, magazines, telly and films.

Yeah', that's one of the bitches, the dock side of things.
