Pretend homos don't count.

I have some fudge I could nudge if it helps?

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:52, Reply)
Sometimes I'm disturbed by how white and middle class this place is.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:54, Reply)
it is somewhat
homogeneous
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:55, Reply)
It's the only thing about this place that bothers me.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:57, Reply)
Especially when online
personas end up exaggerating those opinions, biases and snobberies
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:58, Reply)
We had a lovely lesbian on here ages ago.
She was funny but alas disappeared after a while : (
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:00, Reply)
I agree about the white thing, not so sure about 'middle class'.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:59, Reply)
I doubt you'd ever find a geek who wasn't lower or more middle class.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:01, Reply)
We need a black Muslim humpbacked transsexual single parent in a wheelchair to eveN things out so we hit 'quota'.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:12, Reply)
Yup!
We'll have the equality commission on our case otherwise.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:15, Reply)
Well I'm a part Irish ex-labourer from a single-parent family, that should get you part of the way there.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:16, Reply)
But do you have a disability?
Besides being a B3tan.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:17, Reply)

Why do SOME gay men find it neccessary to talk in a really camp voice? it's fucking annoying.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:53, Reply)
Same reason some straight men find it neccessary to make derogatory remarks about women.
In every sub culture there are annoying people.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:55, Reply)
So they can show just how incredibly gay they are
that they need a whole month to celebrate it.
Whereas the millions that died in two world wars get one day.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:55, Reply)
The right wing in this one is strong I think.
A whole month?

Do you know how many gay men died in the first and second wars?
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:05, Reply)
surely that's more reason to remember?

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:10, Reply)
What? because some of them were gay?

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:12, Reply)
None in the US army
They didn't ask and they didn't tell.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:11, Reply)
Precisely.
Gay and black men were never mentioned as part of the force that fought in both world wars.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:13, Reply)
Aint they a film coming out about the
Tuskegee Airmen

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:17, Reply)
We're at cross purposes I think?
Still don't see why one's sexuality gets a month but the death of millions of all sexualities, colours, faiths, etc gets one day.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:18, Reply)
Do they get a month?
I don't think so. Women get a week. Any problems with that?
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:19, Reply)
Surely women get a week every month??
there is an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) history month. Every February.

Hardly common knowledge or even widely accepted.
It's not a competition about who gets the most time. Soldiers, mostly, become soldiers and know what they are getting into. Gay people do not choose to be thrown into a scenario where they may be attacked or killed just for being who they are.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:30, Reply)
true, but
both world wars had conscription, so not a lot of choice there either.
Maybe it's just where I work that pushes it, others as you say may not be so aware.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:34, Reply)
War is a man made construct. Homosexuality isn't.
I respect more the conscientiousness objector than the soldier. But being half German, I would say that wouldn't I.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:35, Reply)
Agreement to your first point is dependent on if you believe homosexuality is genetic or a result of childhood nurture.

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:40, Reply)
Is it fuck nurture.
If that was the case then every sibling would be gay too.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:43, Reply)
I have a nephew who is gay.
We guessed as much from the age of six. His brother is straight.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:44, Reply)
Only if all the children in that family were treated the same. I know a couple of people who are gay and so are all their siblings (sometimes only one sibling in total).

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:46, Reply)
Imagine you are born a soldier and are aware that because of it you may die or be persected.
Hardly the same.
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:51, Reply)
it occurs in animals, too

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 21:46, Reply)
not at all...fair enough
cheers for the sensible discussion.

who live in south wales and have low standards

OK, maybe just me
(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:54, Reply)
No ulterior motive then?

(, Wed 27 Jun 2012, 20:55, Reply)
Not so much ulterior
as outwardly stated
