So cop for this then.
We've had a royal double bank holiday to celebrate an institution that very few people give a fuck about.

We're about to have a festival of running fast which, again, the majority of the UK population don't give a fuck about.

My proposal - the "It's Stopped Raining" event. The day that no-one in this septic Isle gets wet - should be a spontaneous holiday.

Evening TD
It's a nice idea, but entirely impractical.
This actually applies to the two real events in your post too.

Practicalities and dogma are in my work life
Can't I be a bit presumptious?
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 21:49, Reply)
You run your own business don't you?
You'll soon change your view on bank holidays the more employees you get.
Presume away.

Sole trader
And will always be a sole trader - that's my structure.

I love most Bank Holidays because I'm the only person in my sector locally who will work them. I object to an entire country being closed down for an assumption that we're subservient to the monarchy.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 21:59, Reply)
Fair enough
As an employee I love a bit of extra paid holiday, as long as we continue to compel pub and supermarket staff to work these days.
What has happened to evening threads, eh? BGB sinks into lolmentalness, Jeff gets himself a bird, we pick up a couple of odd bods and it all dies a slow death.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 22:06, Reply)
I'm having a bit of a release on here tonight because I've only got one cut and paste job tomorrow
Didn't know that Jeff was XB.

Last time I was I disappeared off here for a long time. Maybe - a sort of hope - he won't come back, in a positive way.

EDIT - I will be here rather less after next week, as we get the boat onto it's moorings on Wednesday.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 22:16, Reply)

Good luck with the boat. Hope it goes well.

She's what we thought she was
I reckon 5 years of hard work.

Jesus,

Worth it, though. Need to keep up the momentum or things tend to grind to a halt. I speak from car restoration experience rather than boats but the principle remains the same.

I've done a couple of coaches before.
I'm strictly mechanical. I can weld, but not well.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 22:37, Reply)

I thought folk bought new shoes these days. I' m a people person, though, so what would I know. " I' m madder than Tom Cruise's brush," apparently.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 22:08, Reply)

There has never been a day when nobody on this isle gets wet.
Ever.
OK, since winter.

It had its moments.
But was mostly silly.
Still, a break from the norm can liven things up a bit...

You don't know Icicle Works?
If Tangled is still about, he will.

Very good band with an incredibly good lead - Ian McNabb - probably one of the top ten UK guitarists ever.

McNabb at his best, but a long time ago.

I miss Roota now - she hated Ian McNabb with a passion.

Slightly wobbly.

(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:07, Reply)
The ability to pee on a bus
does not give you the right to do so.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:08, Reply)
you make a valid point
but sometimes don't you wish you could? Having a willy must be useful in times of urgent urination
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:09, Reply)
It won't help
Also, I pride myself on being a gent, I won't be pissing in public. I have standards.

(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:13, Reply)
as a lady pissing in a cloak
especially while pissed is quite tricky. There's a lot of material to a) not get caught in teh inevitable brambles and b) piss on
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:15, Reply)
you know
my skill at this should get me some man attention. Why doesn't the world work like that, eh?
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:16, Reply)
I'm thinking - bird pissing in cloak
I'm clawing the walls for a shag, but that's not working.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:20, Reply)
hmm
maybe I need to develop other skillls.
(, Thu 12 Jul 2012, 23:21, Reply)
