Good call. Really it's only chopped beef, onion, pepper
fresh chilli and your spices. 1hr 15 on the stove or 2hrs in the oven.

If it needs "beefing" use a quarter and cook for a bit then taste.

If you brown the beef in batches you don't need to use that much if any stock.
You only need to if the beef sweats rather than fries
