here, people tend to dress in slutty costumes
I've never really dressed up, this year I'm wearing camo to work

Alt Sunday, I shot a semiautomatic shotgun and it scared me, I handed it immediately back to my friend, I was surprised by how little effort it takes to actually shoot a gun

How does a semi automatic shotgun work?

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:05, Reply)
Some of the recoil energy is used to eject the spent cartridge case and insert another.
Or, one's gilly does it for you.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:08, Reply)
I see, so you don't have to pump the barrel every time or anything.
Just insert a half a dozen or so cartridges in a row and then start shooting?
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:11, Reply)
Correct.
Essentially it's the same system that a semi-automatic pistol uses. A pump action is a manual loading system.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:13, Reply)
Yup,
The semi, just means you have to pull the trigger each time. Full auto is basically a machine gun.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:14, Reply)
There is a fully automatic shotgun, the AA12.
That would be scary.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:15, Reply)
How quickly would that fire?
And why would you want a fully automatic shotgun? I mean, apart from "It's cool" surely a shotgun isn't the right sort of gun if you are in a situation where you require fully automatic weapons?
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:17, Reply)
I have no idea.
indoor crowd management?
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:18, Reply)
They're basically designed for room clearance.
Not much use for anything else.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:22, Reply)
So I guess the scope I ordered to go on mine was superfluous.

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:23, Reply)
Probably.

having played grand theft auto san andreas i can confirm the automatic shotgun fires
'quite fast'
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:18, Reply)
Having just watched the You Tube video
I can say that it's "terrifying".
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:20, Reply)
all 8 rounds in what, less than ten secs?

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:22, Reply)
All 20 rounds in under 10 seconds

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:33, Reply)
nice

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:38, Reply)
I see.
Am I right in thinking that some assault rifles, like AK-47 or M16 or the shit one that UK troops use, have the option of being semi or full auto?
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:16, Reply)
Yes
That's the primary difference between assault rifles like the M15 and automatic rifles like our own SA-80.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:17, Reply)
I believe the version of the SA80 issued to UK troops is only semi automatic.
In encourages aimed shots and saves ammo.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:21, Reply)
Doesn't it also spit casings directly into your face if you're stupid enough to be left handed?

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:28, Reply)
They fixed that.

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:29, Reply)
with a bit of gaffa tape?

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:33, Reply)
I don't know exactly
it was a problem when I was in the cadets about 15 years ago. I seem to remember they made a variant with the breech on the other side. I haven't exactly been keeping up since then.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:36, Reply)
Nope, still right-handed only.
Stupid.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:41, Reply)
I've got a semi

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:42, Reply)
you literally put shells in it and barely have to tap the trigger and it goes off
As far as the actual mechanism, I have no idea
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:09, Reply)
I went pistol shooting a fw years ago
I was also surprised how little you have to pull the trigger to fire a gun. It was kind of scary.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:12, Reply)
Well, you don't want to make it difficult to fire.
It's got a safety catch for when you don't want to be filling bitches full of hot lead, having taken it off, I'd imagine a lot of trigger travel would be kind of a drag.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:21, Reply)
Shooting guns willy nilly is the one reason I would become an American.

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:06, Reply)
I have a friend that moved over there.
He now owns an MP-5. I am slightly concerned by this as he's kind of an idiot.
(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:14, Reply)
Isn't that the sort of sub machine gun that you see the police in airports have?

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:15, Reply)
That is the exact kiddie.

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:16, Reply)
Talking to a copper with one of those strapped to his chest,

(, Mon 29 Oct 2012, 15:46, Reply)
Staring at the chest.
