It's only snowing on you, Monty
Because you're actually an elf. Or have catastrophic dandruff. Or awoke in a quite literal blizzard of cocaine. Or are still snowblind from last night, and were imagining it.

I wish.
I have a cold and was abed by half nine reading about the 200 rarest records of all time.

read drool
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:47, Reply)
Nah, first pressings of 'Love Me Do' aren't exactly on my drool list*

*save for their resale value

Ah I was expecting stuff like that Northern Soul single that was sold for around £25k a couple of years ago.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:50, Reply)
I do love soul records but that scene is fucking weird.
It's not that fucking good, calm down.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:52, Reply)
I agree, but it's all about the obscurity with the Northern scene, ain't it?

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:56, Reply)
so potentially, the shitter then better?

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:58, Reply)
Scarcity over song quality?
Good one Northerners.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:59, Reply)
what she said^^

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:01, Reply)
Any scene that has Wigan as its Mecca really needs to take a look at itself.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:02, Reply)
Quite.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:08, Reply)
Where do you stand on reissues/originals?
Obviously we both have plenty of the former for money reasons but I genuinely don't give a shit if it's a bootleg or whatever as long as the sound quality is good. These people with their temperature controlled rooms who never get their records out let alone play them are tossers.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:50, Reply)
I'm quite happy with a good reissue.
Obviously original are nice, but as you know, they can be prohibitively expensive, even in poor condition.
There is a lot of guff about the first pressing being of superior quality, especially with 60s stuff, but there are several cases of really shit pressings from that era and the reissues quite often resolve this.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:55, Reply)
or just get the MP3, then the quality is always good

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:56, Reply)
No it isn't.
As with all format changes since Edison, there is usually a slight compromise on sound quality over capacity/convenience.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:57, Reply)
You're being trolled you knob

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:59, Reply)
:(

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:01, Reply)
sounds alright to me, and I didn't even need to buy new headphones, these apple ones are great

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:59, Reply)
I tried playing an MP3 on my technics, the needle ruined my hard drive

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:00, Reply)
You can't skin up on an MP3.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:01, Reply)
you can't throw MP3s at zombies, like in Boyce's favourite movie, Shaun of the Dead

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:03, Reply)
you could
there are many solid state memory devices that are equally effective against the undead.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:07, Reply)
*8-Track fives*

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:08, Reply)
I didn't mean the storage device, I meant the string of digital information encoded in the audio file.
Otherwise I would have said 'throw hard drives'.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:10, Reply)
So you're saying an LP is not a method of analogue storage?

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:11, Reply)
No, but an MP3 is not a physical object.
This is why it's impossible to throw one. An MP3 player, yes, but not the actual MP3 itself.

You do realise that the posts above this are discussing the differences between vinyl and MP3? I don't see you telling tangles that you can, in fact, skin up on a solid state drive.

Do you see?
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:13, Reply)
An analogue recording can't exist without a container either
so you are comparing apples with oranges.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:15, Reply)
I think you overlooked the whole light-hearted discussion of the differences between vinyl and MP3 thing.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:17, Reply)
I think you overlooked the need for it to be at least remotely amusing.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:20, Reply)
you're never amusing.

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:27, Reply)
NO YOUN ARNT

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:37, Reply)
The Heartbreakers LP was so badly recorded they actually split up.
The 'Lost 77 mixes' reissue on 180g vinyl is actually the record they wanted to release. That's one instance where the original is massively inferior to the later product.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:57, Reply)
180g vinyl is wonderful stuff.
There are few things worse than cheap, flimsy vinyl- Battered's face, AW's personality and AA's taste in music.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 9:59, Reply)
You're forgetting 'your posts'

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:00, Reply)
I'm forgetting 'your morally bankrupt, venal self'

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:01, Reply)
Something I am extremely envious of you for.
I wish I could.
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:03, Reply)
I'm extremely envious of this picture from your modelling portfolio

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:05, Reply)
Only massively bent pricks have a 'modelling profile'

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:07, Reply)
Exactly this.
Not doing yourself any favours here, are you?
(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:08, Reply)
NSA

(, Wed 5 Dec 2012, 10:09, Reply)
It would be NSA if I had a modelling profile.
I googled for 'bankrupt bent pimp' and stumbled across your portfolio, including that wonderful picture above.
