But, like cricket, is it not true that being the, let's say 8th, best team in the world basically equates to last?
To the best of my understanding it goes NZ, Aus, SA then everyone else. "Everyone else" being France, the home nations, Fiji and Argentina on a good day. So there's about 6 or 7 nations who can be arsed with such a stupid game at anything above Sunday league level.

The argies can put on a spirited performance and can play some good rugby, but are not consistant enough to challenge for the top

Points systems are flawed though as you don't get more points for beating better teams, look at the football top ten for example
Colombia are 5th, but that's because they play lots of easy friendlies I believe
