It can take time but London is a big busy place.
I was travelling home from Euston yesterday to Lewisham and did it in 30 mins, train to door. Despite the tourists.

Except in populated areas they have increased busses, so that doens't work.
Take out all the dencely populated areas with resonable transport; such as city centres... then do the maths.
