Me neither
just won't do it as often.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 9:55, 1 reply, 12 years ago)
Minimum pricing of alcohol won't really affect me, as it is rare that what I drink cost less than 45p/unit.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 9:57, Reply)
True
Cheap beer is generally shite, although pretty good stuff can be got 3-4 bottles for £5 in our local off licence.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:00, Reply)
Bollocks.
24 can crates will be at least £35 you never see that even on premium lagers.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:01, Reply)
I never buy 24 can crates of premium lager.
The beer I buy roughly has an average of 2.5 units per bottle.
I'd be more than willing for the price to drop to £1.13/bottle.

Gay

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:05, Reply)
But what do you take to bbqs????

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:05, Reply)
A bag of weed.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:16, Reply)
Horse burgers.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:07, Reply)
Your maths is fucking shocking.
That would make a 24 crate of Fosters/Carling about £19 and a 24 crate of Stella about £24.

Or, about exactly what it costs unless its on offer.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:12, Reply)
I'm a bit scared of questioning your massive scientific brain, but I worked it out as:
Stella = 5%
5x £0.45 = £2.25
24x £2.25 = £54
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:16, Reply)
5% doesn't mean 5 units...

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:17, Reply)
You are absolutely correct and I feel such a fool now.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:18, Reply)
Prick

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:18, Reply)
It's priced per unit.
A can of fosters (440mL) is 1.8 units, a can of Stella 2.3

So, for a slab, either 1.8x0.45x24=£19.44 or 2.3x0.45x24=£24.84.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:18, Reply)
Yes, I knew I was wrong to question you.
I'll try to pay proper attention next time.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:20, Reply)
No, you were right to question me.
always question, tangles. I'm usually talking shit. you were just unlucky this time. even a stopped clock is right twice a day etc etc
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:20, Reply)
I was using this
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21766309
But when it said "strong lager" I though it meant 5.2%ish rather than the 7.9% special brew it's mentioned.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:17, Reply)
Ah, right you are.
Yeah, a slab of spesh is gonna be about £35.

But frankly, if you're drinking that ol' purple tin you've got much bigger problems than the cost, my friend.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:20, Reply)
Never even tried it to be honest.
Most the beer I drink is homebrew so it doesn't matter to me. My main problem is that the government has got more important things to do.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:22, Reply)
They're being told by the NHS to do it
It's a shower of bollocks, but at least they are listening to someone other than themselves and Eton bankers for once.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:24, Reply)
Only because they wrongly think that it could save them some money and make the NHS budget cuts less crippling.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:25, Reply)
I agree it's arsegravy of the highest order
but listening to someone they should listen to is a tiny bit of progress.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:27, Reply)
Special Brew in bottles, super-ice cold, is actually nice, THERE I'VE SAID IT

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:32, Reply)
It's better than Tennants Super
in the same way that losing a leg to a shark is marginally better than losing a leg to a crocodile.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:33, Reply)
A bottle of spirits should be a minimum of £12.60 at 45p per unit.
That seems cheap to me.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:04, Reply)
I bet the quality spirits would go up as well though

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:06, Reply)
That's just not fair.
Buckfast should go up, not Oban.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:09, Reply)
They would put the price up to maintain a distance between their brand and the povvo slop.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:11, Reply)
Check the prices of spirits in supermarkets
they've gone up a lot in the last year, just in preparation for minimum pricing. Only the Frosty Jacks conniseurs are going to notice.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:14, Reply)
why should I be punished for wanting a nice g &t just because some fuckers can't control themselves

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:20, Reply)
Because you're a cunt.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:22, Reply)
is that governmental policy?

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:24, Reply)
Unfortunately not.
Current government policy is to look after cunts like you.
Hence the u-turn.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:25, Reply)
Don't see why, Nakkers just votes for whoever is on the top of the form.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:26, Reply)
Nah, he looks for the name he recognises from his alma mater.

He's been voting for 'BALLOT FORM' for the past three elections.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:30, Reply)
The only thing I've noticed
is that it's making proper expensive gin on offer seem like a better deal. £25 for a bottle of Sipsmith? Well, if you want £17 for fucking Gordons then let's have it.

Also, someone in the last couple of years has started pricing Plymouth gin as a premium brand, which makes me moneysad.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:23, Reply)
I like Plymouth gin.

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:24, Reply)
So do I, but it's twenty fucking sheets in Tesco now.
£20! I can get Tanqueray for that.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:25, Reply)
It's too coarse for my refined palate.
Tanqueray 10 for me.
(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:29, Reply)
I thought you'd be a Hendricks man

(, Wed 13 Mar 2013, 10:32, Reply)
