I'd buy a car.
In fact that's about what I want to spend on a car. It'll be something old, low and fast. I have lots and lots of potential candidates.

name some, go:

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 16:44, Reply)
how about a VW Corrado VR6

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 16:47, Reply)
I like 944s at present.

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:18, Reply)
I really wouldn't
All the expense of Porsche parts with the added pain of every single person you pass knowing you couldn't afford a 911.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:20, Reply)
924s were the poor man's car.
I actually like 944s for the simple fact that they're not a 911. Stupid rear-engined twat-wagon.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:21, Reply)
OK, valid point
but if you don't want a twat-wagon why buy a Porsche at all? it's not like the 944 is anything other than much worse than at least 4 RWD sportscars I could name off the top of my head that you could buy for the same money.

Or if you really must have the cuntbadge, get a 928.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:23, Reply)
Because I genuinely like the 944 as a car.
It's good-looking, quick if you get the right one, rear-wheel drive, handles superbly.

According to various reviewers, it's one of the best handling cars ever built, let alone Porsches.

Sometimes, just when I think you're definitely alright
you come out with an opinion like this

*shakes head sadly*
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:35, Reply)
If everybody had the same opinion, we'd all be driving around in the same car.

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:56, Reply)
Those are some wise words, Master K. Wise words indeed.

mr b3th used to drive a Dolomite sprint back in the seventies.
Apparently it could see off most things.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 16:47, Reply)
it'd be slow compared to modern cars

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 16:52, Reply)
Not true, does 0-60 in about 8.5

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:18, Reply)
That's slow compare to a sports car of today

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:35, Reply)
They weren't really a sports car
More like a hot hatch. They're sort of similar to modern BMW 3 series and most of those won't do that sprint time.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:55, Reply)
It really isn't
because it weighed half as much as most modern cars, even if it only had about 120 bhp.
(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:19, Reply)
Well it is, some practical hatchbacks will do 0-60 in 8.5

(, Wed 20 Mar 2013, 17:36, Reply)
and they are quite quick too. What's your point?
8.5 to 60 is on the quicker side of things for a car.

Dolomite Sprint wasn't a sports car. It was a 4 door saloon. So the resonable comparison is to a warm hatch of today. And that's where it is.

I can picture him now, in his de-mob suit, powering up the A30 to his retirement party.
