I knew, they're a lot less common than that article makes out, at least round here anyway.
I've just had a monster gym session, moved on to proper free weights, it's painful, but it feels so good.

I think the weight machines are a great invention gets novices in to the idea and stances and technique for weight training without the danger of dropping a large bar on your face
(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:33, Reply)
I don't know what any of this means, but I'm so turned on right now.

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:34, Reply)
Well, then we're both happy.

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:35, Reply)
Free weight are better as you have to stabile while you lift

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:35, Reply)
Yeah, but the machines give you a chance to build some muscle tone initially, so you can lift properly.
Also, you'd be surprised how good modern machines are. They can be set to be a little free so you can learn control. These days it's more getting used to knowing how the muscle should feel as it's being worked, so you can transfer that to a free weight scenario, and know you're doing it right

Positively sub-arctic, bro.

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:41, Reply)
It’s a bit harder to beat someone to death
With a weight machine, dumbells are much easier
(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:38, Reply)
Exactly. Repeatedly slamming them in the head with a lat pull down machine takes ages.

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:40, Reply)
So have you decided to keep the dog?

I have enough to last me the rest of my life

5 minutes later I need a piss and I staggered across the room like a drunk tramp. Holding conversations was impossible too as by the time I was at the end of a sentence I had strayed off from the start of the sentence and couldn't remember what I was talking about.

(, Fri 31 May 2013, 13:58, Reply)
The original Ray Harryhausen version?
Of course, what am I thinking, nobody would ever desecrate a classic like that by remaking it.
