Wondering if I should have both, or continue with Netflix & get Sky Movies.

We had Sky movies on a cheap trial over Xmas, it was OK but once the holidays were over we didn't really have time to watch it so got rid. Netflix is better for kids (specially since they added a load of Disney the other week) and at £6 a month a lot cheaper. Needs decent broadband for HD though.
Me, I prefer the cinema, tbh.

Mainstream TV (BBC etc) is full of shit. Hardly watch it, hence having something additional.

Pretty much any TV series and recent film can be obtained in a range of qualities to suit your download allowance or TV size.
Also, if your laptop has an HDMI output, which it will if it's not a shit laptop, and your TV has an HDMI input, which it will if it isn't a shit TV, then you simply connect your laptop to your TV and use it as an external monitor.
If your telly doesn't have an HDMI input then it's shit enough for your comment about the quality of torrented material to be uninformed gibberish.

Would you mind listing some sites that work/ have good quality downloads for you so I can give them a try?

But you can get an xbox360 really cheap these days, it's got apps from pretty much every major content-provider available, and can read USB sticks.
I never use mine for games, maybe a couple of times a year, but as a media-machine, I use it every day.
