I would be so happy with this in my life... It would replace my childhood Hitachi SuperWoofer.

Oh I would fucking LOVE one of those.
I'd play my 'Street Sounds Electro' compilations on it, and do some execrable 'popping and locking' on a flattened cardboard box in a shopping precinct EVERY FUCKING DAY.

Did anyone ever use a ghetto blaster with batteries?
I assumed that the manufacturers just put them there as some sort of joke.

A proper ghetto blaster, mind. The ones with roughly the same weight and dimensions as a fully stacked hod.

Me, it took those fat round batteries - about 12 at a time.

Could you get through a whole c90 without it running out?
I've still got this badboy in a cupboard somewhere.

And the mains lead.
Might actually be of some use nowadays, you could probably stick it in an electric car charging point.

that's a BEAST
I prefer the more traditional silver, taller ones though

Yeah.
I quite liked the look of some of the more cheap and nasty ones because they just went daft with their supposed bells and whistles.

Apparently some of the Amstrad HiFi's back in the day used to have planks of wood behind the speaker grilles to give the impression of 3 way speakers but behind that there was just one cone.
