Much better than last year, in which Mrs V was made redundant, family feuds reached argument status, and people generally acted the cunt all around us.
This year she got a job in January, went permanent in February, and has just passed her "6-month" probation. She loves it, is surrounded by pretty lads who play in metal bands, and next week we're off to the states.

Alt: holiday shopping again (we failed pretty miserably last week, and ended up in the pub), and meeting friends.

I don't get why being made redundant is such a big thing in people's lives.
You get a few months pay to doss about and find more jobs, which is well easy.

The council tax didn't cover my private rent so had to still pay that, and bills, all on jobseekers?
