I have described computers like vishnu in the past
So the processor is the brain. i.e. how many things it can think about and RAM is the arms so the more Ram the more arms, the more things it can carry in each hand.

8gig is a bit excessive though I would say at least 2 but 4 ideally.

the best laptop I ever had was by Advent. Lasted fucking YEARS and ran without a hitch. Fast too and it was cheap from what I remember.
The Toshiba one I use now is the devil's work and no mistake!
