I did work in some dubious bars who required me to play 'chart'
Not all though, thankfully.

I mainly watch it for the crying and rejection.
(Then I get into it and sometimes vote :( )

My fella has already expressed his disdain but is going to endure it.
He's a keeper!

I used to play in a bar in Islington
where the owners would take paid bookings for birthdays, telling them they could have whatever music they asked for, and then book me and not tell me (not that it would do any good). I've had people in tears more than once. LOL.

I walked out of a bar once when the owner told me to start playing classics
and by 'classics' she meant Chesney Hawkes.

I drew a line right there and then.

The one and only time you've had to do this, right?

The worst thing about X-Factor is not the quality of the performers, or the music, or the blanket coverage, or whatever reasons you may have for hating Cowell.
No, it's the whining REAL MUSIC fans who complain endlessly about its lack of worth compared with REAL MUSICIANS playing REAL INSTRUMENTS.
The dreary singer-songwriters appearing at their local open mic night having written a scathing put-down of X-Factor wannabes and how they should waste their lives boring everyone with their acoustic guitars instead.

^ upset

Yeah, it's irrelevant.
In much the same way that the chart success of Englebert Humpedinck and Cilla Black etc had no bearing on the underground psych scene of 66/7...

So what?

People always moan. 10 years the X Factor has been on now.
Same moans, same people.
Don't like it, don't watch :)

I'm on Twitter a lot so am constantly reading people whining about various shows, bands, foods. People are built to moan.

True story, I like pretty much everything Will Young has done, he's actually really good in his own right, if only people would give him the time of day.

Oli Meers isn't bad either
