Welcome to Thursday Evening
Home Sweet Home

Tell me about your day.

Eggheads
As I sneaked home early from work and was too hot to manage anything other than lounge in front of the television, I watched Eggheads.

I hate those smug twats.

Hey clendrix!
I had an awful day.
Been diagnosed with psoriasis this morning (thankfully all cleared up, but may strike again), and just the most stressful and annoying day at work ever:(

Hello BK
*hugs carefully so as not to start things off again*

Poor you! Psoriasis must be awful. And why was your day so stressful?
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 18:34, Reply)
I'm too good at my job
*returns hug*
Thanks hun.

It's ok now, but a month or so ago it looked like second degree burns on the soles of my feet. Painful and ugly!

That sounds arrogant, but everyone comes to me with their shit and it's once in a blue moon I let them down. So they keep coming. Way too busy and couldn't get any new orders done cos I was sorting out every other twat's mess. Grrrr!
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 18:36, Reply)
*hugs BK*
I'm sorry :( hope it stays away for a long time this time!

My day was special - got up at quarter to 12 to run across campus for a counselling appointment, then came back here and have dossed about on b3ta ever since, having nothing else to do, and saying "I'll take the charity bag to town tomorrow". Then my dress arrived from ebay so I tried that on and am now pondering dinner of some kind.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 18:37, Reply)
Is it part of your job
to sort out the messes that twats make?
Or do they just assume you'll do it cos you're good at it.

Work would be so much easier without other people there, dicking around and being incompetent.

Edit: Maladicta - love that dress!
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 18:39, Reply)
@mal
Thank you - no, it's much better and cleared up, bar a tiny rash on a couple of fingers. Also, I have all new baby-pink skin on my feet. It's all smooth and nice!
Glad you had a good day! *hugs*

*edit* @clendrix
Some of it's supplier errors and some is the people I order for giving me the wrong occasion in the first place. But I am very good at sorting the mess out so they keep coming back.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 18:40, Reply)
@ clendrix
Thanks :) I had to bid on three different ones before I nabbed it off ebay eventually and now I love it to bits! Not told Mr Maladicta it's arrived yet, I think I'll give him a treat.

@ BK - glad to hear it's cleared up now :)

I take it that the temperature's quite high in London today. Or have you just been wearing your duffel coat, clendrix? Anyway, it's a tad brisk up here.

How is everyone?

Hello BK
Yes, Al. I'd like to know too - are they 'interesting' DVDs...?

@Clendrix - it's 17°C here just now, which is as high as it's been all day. Only it feels cooler because the wind's from the east.

Edit - Evening, amphibious one. Good QOTW, by the way.

You should consider moving to Scotland - we're a friendly bunch. As long as you can hold a drink, you'll be alright

The original War of the Worlds
was quite good, as I remember. And I like the musical version wot Jeff Wayne did 25 years ago.

And I have seen the first two Pirates films. Both on aeroplanes last year. But apparently the third one's not so good.

And what's this about cute ducklings? I think we need to know, rswipe!

@ Pavlov's Frog
I did indeed :) I'm training in London for a month at Kings Cross, and thereafter am a customer service lady for Eurostar in Ashford. Come to me for all your cut-price cross-Channel Tunnel needs.

Ah, the wonderful world of customer service
I know it well - you'll have to fight the urge to hate the rest of humanity after a few months in the job.

Customer service would be a great job, if it wasn't for the customers...

One doesn't *have* to resist the urge to hate humanity. Sure, it's commendable to try, but roll with it, I say.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 19:27, Reply)
^ This
until humanity does something genuinely wonderful and amazing, like making Eddie Izzard king of the universe, I will continue to hate 95% of them.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 19:34, Reply)
I never used to be cynical
But 3 years in the cesspit of customer services has taken it's toll

I'm still clinging to my last shreds of youthful enthusiasm - there's still a small part of me that believes humanity is good, just and kind, and that the majority of people have their heads screwed on.

Then I think about the popularity of the Spice Girls, Crazy Frog and My Family, and I realise most people are fucking morons
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 19:38, Reply)
Eddie Izzard

I like it certainly :) it fits well, too, which amazes me when I saw the bloody thing unworn!

I wish I had my bike, too. I'm going to need it to be able to get to the station to go to London for a month as I feel claiming expenses for a daily £7 cab ride is taking the piss...
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 22:23, Reply)
@Maladicta
You're obviously not a politician, as they would most likely claim £20 a day for the same cab journey. With no qualms about it.

It was very much worth the wait

Aww PoD
How were those three minutes though? Best of your life?

Boo for burnt brownies Ancrenne. I'm sure they deserved to be cinderific, but tis a shame all the same.

Mal, cab drivers do give receipts. If you're worried about taking the piss, can you get a bus instead? Or is that not an option?
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 22:33, Reply)
That makes sense. Eh, I guess I'm walking.
Conclusive proof that God does not exist.

@ Becky - not feasibly; the train I need to take to Victoria leaves at 6.50 in the morning and buses don't serve campus that early :( it's about an hour's walk, too...
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 22:33, Reply)
Cab drivers
will give you a receipt if you ask for one.

I've done it often enough. And if I can keep my receipts when claiming expenses, so can politicians.

£7 a day isn't taking the piss, Maladicta.

The chocolate kind, that is. The little girly ones are a bit chewy.

But no suppertime treats for me, except the somewhat dried up orange that I just had. So I'm off to bed

See you all in the morning.
(, Thu 24 Jul 2008, 22:42, Reply)
Hang on,
an hour's walk translates to a cabfare of £7? Can you make them all come work round here please? When I first moved here I got a bit lost and only knew my address and no idea of how to get back there (to be fair it had snowed and it was my first time out of the flat) the cab fare from the station to the flat (now turns out to be 15 mins walk) or 2 minutes in a car was £7.50. The cunt expected a tip as well.

I wants brownies now. Especially Green and blacks brownies.

Oyster FTW
well they're not when they go soggy as you've put it in the washing machine, or snap as you've left it in your back pocket and sit on it or just flat out lose it and have to wait til the next day to get a replacement one. But other than that...

I've always wondered what you're supposed to do if you lose your card and have no money on you at all if the people at the station will help you out. Purely a wonderance as it's never happened to me and don't really wish it to happen.

Oooooh, I forgot, I think I saw a b3tan on the tube this evening coming home from work. He was seated while I stood by the doors, I looked down to see him looking at the b3ta badge I have on my bag, then look up at me and smile.

Edit: You're lucky they actually took you. Our receptionist had to walk from Tufnell park to Hampstead in the rain as the cab she booked from the guys who supply pet taxis for us refused to take her as she had her dog with her.
