I remember a burst pipe on Christmas Day which almost caused my house to flood when I was a nipper.

Again it's
very nearly getting struck by lightning when about 3 feet from the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Alt: going to see Mrs V's mate on Saturday to dog-sit and get drunk. Once again I will no doubt joke about us all having a threesome, but we won't.

Altalt: drinking in the beer garden with mates from about 4pm on a Saturday, with no plans to do anything else, just seeing how it goes.

broached a yacht in a cross-channel race in a force 8.
45 mins before we cut the spinnaker free, got the boat upright and moving again. 45 minutes in heavy seas in the busiest shipping lane in the world in the pitch dark with a 10 ton yacht on its side and with the radar deflector smashed. Yes I did need new underwear, but the water washed the shit out of my boots so it was OK.
