Dogs that can pick up their own shit.
To be fair though, I've no proof that they *can't * already pick up their own shit, but just choose not to.

That is one thing I'm NOT going to miss about having a dog, I must say.

it's right up there with life's degrading tasks.
Emptying a cat litter tray is a thankless task too.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:03, Reply)
Having been a cat owner before I became a dog owner by default, I have to agree.
But at least with a litter tray you can instantly dispose of the contents, whereas if your dog has a shit on the beach you have to carry it around like some kind of catwalk model.

'DG is wearing a Berghaus fleece with matching dog-shit accessory bag'.

I can imagine dogs thinking
"Oh, wow! You like that stuff? Oh boy oh boy oh boy, I can produce a TON of that! You're going to be SO happy!",

and cats thinking
"You pathetic mess. Do you think I miss the litter tray by ACCIDENT? Mwah hah hah haaaaaaaa!"

I swear our dog's arse is like a TARDIS at times :-(

TURDIS

Indeed.
On that note, I suppose I'd better go and sort the kitchen out. Possibly have a tab first.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:10, Reply)
That in no way sounds like your kitchen is full of dogshit.

I know people say this all the time, and then do the complete opposite within a few months
but I won't get another dog after Biscuit.

How is the old girl?

and Mildew?

Apart from sporting a tumour the size of an extra-large strawberry and the utterly minging breath
you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with her.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:07, Reply)
Biscuit is covered in lipomas
which are essentially fatty lumps that develop on older dogs. The breath is pretty much par for the course when they get into double figures.

The advice we got from the vet is that as long as they have at least half an hour of fun a day, they're doing okay.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:11, Reply)
The breath has got a lot worse this last week
you can smell it when you walk in the room. It's pretty unpleasant.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:12, Reply)
How long have you had yours?
I haven't owned a dog since my last one died a good 7 years or so ago.
Don't know why I think a cat dying will be less painful.

Tbh they normally drag themselves off to die in dignity

Just over 11 years. She's about 12.
Rescue dog, so difficult to pinpoint exactly.

Well my heart goes out to you
Poor thing. If she is happy enough then I wouldn't cast that vote just yet.

We had no choice with mine. His back legs had completely gone. He was very immobile
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:18, Reply)
She's happy, she's active, but it's going to affect her ability to eat, drink and possibly breath at some point.

(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:20, Reply)
He's 10 now
and we got him when he was about 8 weeks old. My parents have had dogs before, but biscuit is the first dog I've actually owned myself.

i can't imagine the state I'm going to be in when he's wormfood.
(, Tue 24 Sep 2013, 19:13, Reply)
Shit isn't it. Worth it for the good times though
