If you couldn't live in the 20th or 21st centuries, which previous century would you chose?

22nd

Hover boards and scramjets are both 20th/21st century

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 10:44, Reply)
Not in terms of everyday use. Can you hop on a scram jet & get to Australia in two hours? Not yet.

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 10:52, Reply)
Because the strand is made of magnets at the opposite pole of the hoverboard.

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 10:55, Reply)

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:07, Reply)
Oh God, there's literally nothing in any previous century
that would make the typhoid, tuberculosis, smallpox as well as any of the currently easily treatable conditions worth it. A bit of dermatitis is easily treated with a dab of steroid cream unless, that is, you live in any century prior to the 20th where you have to deal with disfigured skin instead.

No, I'm happy where I am, thanks.

In other news, I'm getting my engine rebored to a 2.1 litre. Though you might theoretically try to do that in the 19th century, I'm not sure you'd enough performance out of your Benz Patent-Motorwagen to make it worthwhile. Particularly since that was a 0.6 litre to start with.
(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:15, Reply)
Changing the camshaft as well?

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:16, Reply)
Yeah, something like a Piper 272.
On the lumpier side of fruity, but not too wild. It is a daily, after all.
(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:21, Reply)
And of course
prior to the 20th century you would have had to learn a number of different dialects as modern French didn't exist as such. You would also have been able to wear stilts to farm sheep
(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:22, Reply)
I think I would have been an Occitanian.
Sun and wine are my kind of deal.
(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:23, Reply)

(, Thu 16 Jan 2014, 11:56, Reply)
Probably the 15th or so. towards the end of the Middle Ages and the Medieval Times.
All that battling and pillaging looks fun.

I would have probably ended up a Court jester though, and eventually headless.

Or the Elizabethan era where Kings and Queens had to fight for their place and not just sit comfortably on the throne.
Bit more excitement in life.
Doubt I would have enjoyed the toiletries mind.
