When I cook after work I just use frozen, which never tastes as good.
Cooking for company, always fresh.

Don't they say frozen is actually fresher than fresh veg?

Doesn't taste it.

Certainly for peas, yes
Those Birds Eye veg mix things are good for when you are in a hurry though

If Badge was here I am sure he would explain it better
But it is something to do with the water in the cells expanding due to the freezing process so although technically they are fresher (or preserved from a fresher point) due to the degradation in the cell wall they can taste different to proper fresh.

Surely if they're flash frozen they should be okay?

I would think there is still some damage done
I could well be talking out of my arse though. It wouldn't be the first time/.

The ones in individual portion microwave packs?
Yeah, we use them. They're very handy.

They are canny, yes
There's some generic mixed veg for the freezer though that only take 2 mins to cook
