Let's have a Sunday thread...

Home Sweet Home
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:17, 78 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I'm overjoyed
to be at home today, ripping shit for my ipod ahead of my trip and getting just enough stuff done to feel productive without encroaching on my lying-on-the-sofa time.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:20, Reply)
i am
Sitting on a sun lounger by the pool soaking up some late afternoon rays...
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:23, Reply)
No Edmund,
this isn't what we want to hear! It's 20 degrees and grey in London and Belfast has been washed away by rain.

However, I am glad to hear you're relaxing. Not long 'til your flight home!
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:27, Reply)
yep
Friday, BA26 2315 - can't wait. They've now decided that they know how to do it, much to my happiness, so this week will be spent trying to avoid getting anything new to do!

Where are you off to?
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:30, Reply)
Morning
I'm heading out to feed furry beasties and go for a wander on Hampstead heath if this weather holds. If not I'll be sitting indoors and cursing stupid weather forecasts that said it was going to be sunny today.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:33, Reply)
@becky
The fluffeh...bless! Hampstead Heath sounds eminently desirable.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:36, Reply)
I'm off to
DC for a week and Detroit for a week and then hurriedly home to Cornwall for a wedding. It'll be so nice though - I've not had any sort of holiday since Christmas, and it's been a really rough year.

Morning Becky!

Is this a little known all female combo Clendrix and the Vandelas being released by the Motown label?

I had a week teaching kids to climb in June but I've not had a holiday proper since June 2007.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:53, Reply)
Hmm, Clendrix and the Vandelas..
I like it! Perhaps I'll stay there forever, seeking fame and fortune. Well, perhaps not the fame, but a little fortune would be nice.

I don't suppose you're planning much holiday time, Edmund, what with your 'stroll' coming up. But any time for R&R?
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 10:58, Reply)
Morning .....
how are you?

Not been on much this past week. The QOTW is full of Star Wars tragedies and isn't really holding my interest.

Plus I've been madly shopping on the "Back to School" treadmill.

Woohoo - they go back on Wednesday

*does victory dance around house*

when properly back
In the UK it'll be one weekend in three doing long distance routes in the UK.

I'd dearly like to take a week in Oz whilst I'm here but I've not got the time to do so, mores the pity.

Plus, with my current contract I'm meant to take 20 days paid leave a year; this year I've taken 5, and the leave year ends September 30th.

Had an ace night. Had friends round, lots of beer, a bit of weed, and plenty sexytime.
How is everyone?

@BK
helloooooo there lasagne king.

Sounds like a good night. I ended up watching the X Factor *cringes* just to laugh at the deluded ones. Does that make me a bad person?

Hi Edmund - may I be the first to ask - Are you all packed then?

"plenty of sexytime"?
Ace. Been a while for me :(

Everything I'm not going to use in the next week is nicely sitting in piles for packing Thursday evening!

W00t, as I believe to be the expression du jour...

@TWW
No, just means you have a healthy appreciation of the absurd.

@Edmund

It's all good - honeymoon period still, so it's fairly constant. She's paying for a new tattoo for a belated birthday present next weekend. She may well be the ideal woman.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 11:22, Reply)
Edmund
do you do that "last minute, oh my god" packing thing (that would be me) or are you super organised?

BK - enjoy it while it lasts. MrWitch and I got into a huuuuge fight yesterday (about the washing machine of all things) and when I'd won he went in the huff for ... oh about ten minutes. Making up later was mucho fun though.

We never fight about serious stuff, just the stupid things. Like toothpaste tubes. You'd think he'd have realised that he's never, ever, going to win. He was in a bad mood 'cos his team got beat. Pffffft.
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 11:32, Reply)
@TWW
I'm a last minuter I'm afraid. Which is Mr Ws team? I support the MIGHTY Inverness Caley Thistle :)
(, Sun 17 Aug 2008, 11:36, Reply)
Edmund
He's a Hearts supporter. He should be used to them getting beat. Every now and again it catches him "off-side" as it were. Particularly when the old firm *spits on ground* are involved. Chuck in some dodgy refereeing and it's a long trip back along the M8 to God's own country.

That's a point. Only once in my life was I an ICT season ticket holder (when I lived in Glasgow) but I'm lucky if I get to one game a year now, more's the pity :(

Boo!
(Just seeing who was still conscious).

Well, the Dark Knight was jolly spiffing, and I'm now torn between cleaning out the car (finally) or getting my boots on and going for a bimble around Delamere Forest, even though it'll be a bit soggy. Which leads to the problem of what to do with the family...

Oh, and the mundane & numerous domestic tasks, going to the recycling place, fitting the new phone system etc etc.

This thirty-something malarkey sucks at times, especially as some bugger here will pop up with 'just climbed Snowdon, skydived naked and had an insane orgy with a rubber-clad Susannah Doyle and three random nuns with dominatrix tendencies'.

Go on then, you know you want to...

Last night, I watched Hackers wth someone who was still in school when it was released. He was pleased to remind me of this, but I am prevented from maiming him as he is an affable, entertaining chap who likes to accompany me to the pub for beers and smokes.

My depression grows futher, being stuck at home due to a need for washing and cleaning and sorting out stuff.

Thirty something - I hear your pain.

Go for a walk! Please go! I'm a country girl stuck in the city. I need to hear that at least someone has pink lungs and a healthy heart!

Hello people
So far I've spent the weekend helping my sister move home.

Having a bath in a mo and then later it's a family meal at a Thai restaurant.

Then it's four more days and I'm off to London for the bash. Woo!

Hope everyone is well : )

the B3TA bash ...
... is it on Friday night?

If so, feel free to try to make it last all night then come over to Heathrow terminal 5 for 5am Saturday and I'd be happy to put my hand in my pocket for the first ever B3TA breakfast?

Glad to hear you're approaching sobriety, Kirst.
Not so sure about the woman who just rang our doorbell though. She was wearing a little skirt and leopard-print boots and was holding a bottle opener.
'Did I borrow this from you,' she asked.
'No,' I replied, because to be perfectly honest, she didn't. She seemed unconvinced, but went to try next-door.

How friendly we are in the North.*

To be fair that was two years ago though and I turn 30 this year.

Evening all. I didn't go down the heath in the end as the weather decided to stay stupid and be cold and overcast and then sunny and gorgeous every half an hour, so I stayed in the back garden and hung out with teh fluffies. Also met the neighbours who are clients at work and they're lovely, so went next door for another few hours to see their puppy...faaaar too cute.

Now I'm back and pondering doing stuff to my hair again as I think I've left it long enough to dye over the bleaching I did last weekend without it all falling out.

I've finished fixing every tile in my bathroom, just got to grout and seal them now!

on the downside, the belt which connects the engine in my car to the climate control, water pump alternator and power steering is knackered, and my boiler has decided to stop working for no reason....

I know there's recipes on here and on the great world wide interweb for non egg Yorkshires, but I want the real thing dammit.

I seem incapable of providing short answers to things at the moment and go for big long rambly text or speech instead.

Is anyone still around?

Just spent the day dismantling my computer and finally fixed both of the problems that have been bugging me these past few weeks. My computer is now a Frankenstein-machine containing various components which are themselves Frankenstein-parts.

In other news, I've been planning my forthcoming trip to London and Oxfordshire.

How are your evenings?

I slept for most of today, I don't know why I'm still tired; on and off from midnight to about 2.30.

We have the keys, we have the contract, all that remains to be done is for Mr Maladicta to get his dad to help him move his stuff, for me to call all the providers and get my stuff moved, and we'll be sorted. Woo and yay.

Well, we're nearly sorted; the only problem is Mr Maladicta's contract states he can only terminate from the first of the month so that's going to be me in the flat for a few weeks on my own, which I'm not very happy about especially as there are no buses on Sundays to and from where we'll be living.
(, Mon 18 Aug 2008, 0:53, Reply)
@ Maladicta
But you can paint the place and do stuff like that for a couple of weeks.
(, Mon 18 Aug 2008, 0:56, Reply)
@ liveinabin
In actual fact, the flat is pretty grubby and smells of curry (there are curly black hairs stuck to the skirting boards... WTF?) so I'll probably end up spending the few weeks cleaning and prettifying the flat in preparation for him moving in. We also need things like hoovers and freezers and pots and pans (all mine got destroyed at uni) unless Mr Maladicta's lovely nan can provide those as well as a sofa and a coffee table and perhaps some curtains.

He's also sending practically all his stuff to the flat including his DVDs, PS2 and 360, leaving his clothes and his PC and printer behind, so when I come home from work... GUITAR HERO. Yay.
