This is pretty tame compared to what he has.They are trying to make him angry on the stand.
I reckon he did it mind. All this apparent tampering that probably didn't happen. Why would the police move stuff?
They should make him scream, see if he sounds like a woman.

Did he not shout "who is there", warn "I have a gun"? CHECK ON HER FIRST?!
Any other person would have gently woke their partner, told them to be quiet and warned them there may be an intruder.

i think we can't understand how much it might affect your perceptions, growing up in SA as opposed to the UKand that might have made him much more trigger happy.
but not that trigger happy. i have sieves with fewer holes in them than his story.
