I just had a conference call with someone so monumentally, catastrophically and irredeemably thick I wanted to beat them to death with their own stupid conference phone
What's annoyed you today?

One call - excellent! Second call was to a design studio where the owner was so massively dim I'm surprised he manages to remember to breathe.

My first 2 jobs were a 10 minute walk in to town,
I phoned for more work and was sent to Uxbridge. That pissed me off. Why didn't they send me to the far away job in the morning? Stupid.
(, Mon 30 Jun 2014, 17:55, Reply)
Do you get paid more if you do more work?

(, Mon 30 Jun 2014, 17:56, Reply)
Usually yeah,
I'm contracted to a certain number of hours, and if I'd just stopped around 2, I'd have to make it up somewhere, and I'd rather have a few hours in hand to leave early Friday than hit Thursday and need to make up a few.
(, Mon 30 Jun 2014, 18:02, Reply)
Makes sense.

(, Mon 30 Jun 2014, 18:04, Reply)
It's a weird but fair system, if I phone and they have no work,
I'm paid for a full day, but if I leave I have to make the time up.

(, Mon 30 Jun 2014, 18:43, Reply)
Yep. I'm after a permanent position now. The consultancy stuff has suited me well for the last couple of years when I needed flexibility given the divorce, moving house, settling micro etc. but it's now time to go back to a permanent thing.
