Greetings
It's positively vile here - Even teh kitteh took one look out of the conservatory and decided "Sod that!".

On an entirely unrelated note I am just about to cook a black pudding sarnie on tomato ciabatta avec a fookin' massive mug o' tea.
(, Thu 11 Sep 2008, 8:27, Reply)
that sarnie
sounds awesome. I love black pudding.

I had an orange juice, pineapple, melong, grape, mandarin and apple smoothie this morning and some bread and peanut butter.

exciting stuff.

where is this horrible weather? it's not too bad down in exeter, just pretty grey

Black pudding from Richardsons butchers in Bowness ...... The premier Krug of black pudding.

The mighty city that is Sheffield is suffering from a bout of shitty weather......... Just persistently crap more than anything.

It's horrid in Yorkshire.
I've had a large cup of tea, and a ciggie.
I'm sitting with a pleasant head rush and a bit of Muse playing in the background.

*edit* The weather's horrid in Yorkshire, not the place. I happen to like living here.

Good morning.
I'm just waiting for the bookeeper to arrive to do the monthly accounts.

And the weather is poo here as well.

I just live on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border in Yorkshire but work in Lancashire. I'm always joking that when the weather is bad here at work I'll go home and see what the weather is like in Yorkshire.

Well it makes me laugh : )

@Kaol
No I didn't *shifty eyes*

@himjim

Bash was good although there were two big disappointments.

1) Kaol isn't half as angry or stabby in real life. He also didn't look anything like I expected (even though I did guess who he was...)
2) Wanderlust isn't a 57 year old (male) paedophile.

Minor rant: Why are people dicks? I have a proper job to do, yet my morning so far has been taken up by the News Editor whinging that she doesn't have the right version of Outlook (until 2 days ago, I was the only outlook user in the company). She wants us to shell out on a whole new Office package for her (she's in Edinburgh and we're in London), and steadfastly refuses, for some reason, to just fucking well use Outlook Express. I have repeatedly explained how to access other e-mail accounts this way. I have even offered to go to Edinburgh and do it for her, the dozy bint. But NOOO. She wants the full Office 2007 package and a good chunk of my fucking bonus. I am NOT HAPPY WITH THIS AT ALL.

Some people are just beyond help. The guy that managed our internet and email at my last job seriously believed that there were "computer worms" in facebook that would cause the computers to break if we looked at the pages where they were. He was allowed to look at them obviously though. He also totally failed to grasp my request to have Firefox instead of IE because "it is policy for everyone to have the same browser" I replied that Dave had IE, FF and Safari but "that's different because he has a mac" my request of having a mac was not accepted :(

From experience of talking to people, most IT departments seem to be rubbish, as do most people who try use computers. My mums boss once asked why the internet wasn't working on his laptop. It was mostly because he hadn't plugged the ethernet cable in to it.

Macs FTW!

I use Mail, via IMAP to pick up my e-mail, which is much nicer than Groupwise, which we're supposed to use here. It's my own machine, so I can do what I like with it.

So
I got an email from my uni last night.

Firstly, it said my proposal needs major modification to become acceptable. Not that bothered about that bit, as there are only 3 categories; acceptable, entirely unacceptable, or needs major modifications. I'll happily do the work to get it up to standard.

The second thing it told me is who my advisor is. Perhaps the most useless lecturer in the world. No-one comes to his lectures they are that bad.

This project isn't going to go well.
(, Thu 11 Sep 2008, 11:36, Reply)
Errorist, you're wrong.
Best thing EVER in a can is flies.
There's a petrol station near me that used to have a vending machine that you could buy cans of maggots from.

If you got a can and left if for a week, you'd have a can of flies.
Amazing!

Ah, you've inadvertently reminded me to sort out travel for Saturday.

I could drive, and sip slighty-chilled tap water all evening, or I could get raucously drunk and fall into a taxi...

Well if I known
you could have bought a can of hundreds of flying insects I wouldn't have harped on about that poncey italian orange drink.

Hundreds of uses for a can of flies/maggots are racing through my mind.

I think I'd put one through my neighbours letterbox.

As for the can of flies the possibilities seem endless. Although I think I've just thought of what I'd most like to do with them.

I went to the pencil museum of my own free will when I was in the Lake District with Mrs V a few years ago.
