It's a good reason TGB
A good reason indeed.
I for one shall be here all evening most likely, as I have not a thing else to do. Well, apart from all that work, but I'm just going to put that off tonight I think, and actually have a night off.

Hmm well I guess as we spend so much time at work you need something you like doing, but they say it's always easier to find work when you're in work :)
I have people coming round later but I dunno when! Edit: Ooh 8 apparently!

I agree with you GB
The thing is that I have real issues telling children that things in the bible are anything other than bilge.
However, parents have opted to send their children to this school as it supports their faith.
I guess I'll go for the interview and decide then, I might not get it after all.

I know people that went to a Christian school
Didn't really have any practical things, like science, and were incredibly sheltered when they finished. I think only one of them that I know went on to uni. Not that I'm saying that's why.

Good evening, all!
Mrs Liveinabin,
I agree, go to the interview and see what happens. It'll buy you more time whilst, you decide. You can always say "no". And like TGB says, better to have a job and look for another, than have no job and need one!
I hope everyone else is well. :O)

Sorry chaps
I went off to get dinner started.
It is a CEVA Primary school, which is like a C of E school plus 1.
They teach Christianity, they have a full Christian service every morning and all staff must attend, there is a bible corner in each classroom, each term each class must TAKE the service in the church!
All Primary schools are required by law to have an act of collective worship each day, but this is a bit too full on.
The post is only temporary, for two terms, so I guess I could last for that long.

The personal specs
said you need to be sympathetic to Christian beliefs.
Does that mean I pity the deluded fuckers?
I did ask (at a Catholic school) if not being a Catholic precluded me from getting a job in a faith school and was told that out of the staff of 20 only 3 were Catholic. So I guess it doesn't matter.

If I took the job then I would teach it because that it what the school, and moreover, the parents who have chosen to send their children there want.
However I do have 'issues' with organised religion.

you may be at a disadvantage when you interview...
but if they offer the job - take it, You may have swallow some pride and spout (imho) bollox and look devout every morning...
but it pays every month
but, and it is a big but - does it count to NQT status? will you get your extra 10% NQT time (in addition to 10%PPA)? It is your right to get and you must ensure you get it. Are you in a union - if not join now (some peepe here may disagree on principle with unions) but in teaching IT IS ESSENTIAL
sorry for the shouty bit, but it is important

Although it's a CEVA school, it's still a council school and will very much count towards my NQT year.
Yes I am in a Union.
I am earning enough to live on from supply, but I really need a regular job.
The other massive advantage is that it is less than a two minute walk from my house.

Evening all
I've just recovered after Clendrix shredded me earlier and made me into pancakes.
I went to a CEVA Primary School. It's not quite as hardcore as it sounds to be honest. Looking back at it, it's now apparent that the teachers thought it was as much bollocks as we did, but they were pretty much powerless to do anything else due to the place being heavily funded by the church.
It can't have worked that well though, as I came out the other end as a devout Atheist and eventually ended up with a variety of sciencey/engineering letters after my name.

To redress the balance (in the interest of fairness) I went to a regular state primary school and, if you believed them, the only religion around was christianity! Hymns in the morning, religious studies, etc.
I can't speak for nowadays, but back then, it depended who your headmaster/mistress was.

Both my youngest sister and nephew were baptised Catholics so that they could get into good schools. Half the kids are probably in the same boat as they were. It's all a big con and don't worry about it.

Don't stress about the lying. My sister and I aren't religious but we always talked about Jesus and stuff to my nephew because that's what they were discussing at his school. I doubt he'll hold that against us when he's older.

For some reason
I really want a can of Coke.
Biscuits of your choice for the first person to get here with a can.

Night disappearing persons
I've just finished some more work I had to do for next week, which puts me well ahead of schedule.
I think it's bad that I now feel bad if I'm sitting about doing nothing, or just relaxing.

We were discussing work
so someone wanted to change the subject and asked for suggestions. My b3ta-ness kicked in so I suggested kittens. Unfortunately, she was more of a dog person than a cat person.
