i had to lash out a few months ago for the new UK biometric passport - hundred quid or so. holds data on it clever little fucker it is
i also had to do the same for my wife and child
aside from the advanced muppetry of trying to tell a 2 year old not to smile for a passport pic what fucking use is a 10 year passport to a 2 year old - is he supposed to look the same aged 12?
furthermore i also have jumped through hoops to get one of the new driving licences - the picture is in black and white because it is 'lasered' *slides volcano roof back* onto the plastic. well whoop de feckin do
why the fuck do i need and id card i have a passport and a driving licence?

I'd like to precede with a question to the response above?
Are we playing a game?
EDIT Oh, well now you've posted all that my reply just looks like gibberish.

You'll need the ID card so the government can gather a suitably large selection of personal information in one place.
This will allow them to lose as much information as possible in one easy cock-up, rather than having to do it over a matter of months via several smaller mistakes.
It's about driving efficiencies into governmental practise.

Got my new passport about the same time as you, and my new driving license a couple of weeks ago. Looked into what data is on these fuckers and I'm scared. Hope to be living somewhere else by the time the ID card is introduced - just how much further will that one go?
Mind, if they will give a full driving license to a thrice-sectioned, psychotic alcoholic, ex-codeine addict with a record of writing off cars and convictions including cough-medecine-aggravated GBH and breaking into the British embassy in Calais in broad daylight armed with a brick, then they can't be that vigilant - yet..

I'd agree that most of my posts are gibbering nonsense anyway.
As for ID cards, of course I think they're bad, but some day I'm going to run away and live in hiding in a log cabin in the mountains, and while away my summers murdering american teenagers.

There may be a film in that murdering teenagers thing.

It's not just that we're having biometric passports AND ID Cards imposed on us. It's that we have to pay through the nose for them AND the taxpayer will have to stump up between £7-12bn for the privilege.
The threat of "terrorism" and "security" being touted by the powers that are simply doesn't hold water... It wasn't like this when the IRA were planting bombs.
Cunts. The lot of 'em.

going to be running the whole shebang are employing that twunt Blunkett to "oversee" (tee-hee) the whole thing, and paying him a fortune

The government say that the majority of people are in favour of having an ID card, don't they?
(I am so gullible!)
Of course, couple an ID card with taking away the right to a jury if charged with a crime, and STILL having to pay court costs if you elect to go to court for even minor misdemenours and you WIN, and you have the National Socialist [German] Workers Party.
Yet, still, despite having been down this road in, oh, I don't know, 1939ish, oddly there are no riots?
I don't get it.
