Put a jumper on

Drink some whisky!
PJM - I think this should be our standard answer to every single question post.
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 15:45, Reply)
Sam's right
Scotch whisky. It warms from the inside.

Sam-I-am
do you mean "put a jumper on" should be the standard response? BUT WHAT IF IT'S SUMMER? Won't someone please think of the children? Ban this sick filth! etc etc etc

No, drinking whisky should be the answer!
Since myself & PJM seem to keep recommending it to people.

With his hatred of New Labour and his appreciation of single malt I'd like to have a few drams with the fella I think.

Thank you Sam
I may be off the malt for a while given that I was completely and utterly Legoed last night.

I can't remember getting home.

I woke up this morning and thought "Well, this isn't too bad". And then I moved :-(

I blame the Tories.

ahhhh, nice single malt.
Can I join this exclusive little group of whisky-loving Nu-Labour haters?

Talisker or Caol Ila for me please!
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 16:16, Reply)
I heart Caol Ila
I'm an Islay malt man, definitely.

Got a bottle of Laphroaig QC at home awaiting my return :)

PJM - you seem to have been pissed all the time recently!

Welcome Empress!
Talisker... Mmmm....

Chickenlady's dad loves Glengoyne. I quite liked that.

He also hates New Labour. I like him too.

Drinking
Ah, we started at 2:30pm yesterday. I might have posted some gibberish when I got home.

My abused body is recovering today.

Laphroaig...Omnomnomnomnom!
Or glugglugglugglugglug really. My at-some-point-to-be-parents-in-law are old labour supporters I think, but I prefer to keep politics out of our conversations. I think they were dismayed to find that I'm a hearty supporter of hunting!
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 16:28, Reply)
They wouldn't like me
I'm all in favour of hunting New Labour members.

And Tories.

With guns.
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 16:30, Reply)
With guns?
Guns are for shooting parties (sorry, shooting-parties, not shooting actual parties. Unless they're loud, tacky chav parties. In which case that's ok. But I digress).

I'm talking about hunting with hounds, sat astride a heavy hunter, capable of going for hours without stopping, clad in jodhpurs and pinks, with a hipflask of home-made sloe gin for sustenance. Then go home, muddy, exhausted and happy, and clean off in a steaming bath, with another sloe gin to keep the chill out.

Mmmmmm. Am going back to the country homestead in two days, can't wait! Mind you, drag hunting is nowhere near as good as going after proper foxes. But, you know, sometimes a fox will happen to stray across our path anyway, and you can't get the hounds away after that...
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 16:37, Reply)
I don't really have anything against hunting
There was far too much of a hoo ha about it. I think shooting is fairer, but they are only animals.

I fucking hate horses though. Won't go within 10 yards of the bastards. This is the best thing to do with them :P

shooting v. dogs
Yeah, there is a debate between them. The point is that foxes are only caught 1 in 10 times. However, the stress of the hunt for foxes actually helps keep the fox population down, and away from populated areas (thus they're not too much of a problem for chickens/rabbits etc, except in very rural areas). Shooting can be worse: more foxes are hit, but not killed immediately. They crawl away to die, which can take days. At least with hounds they're ripped apart instantaneously. Messy but quick.

I love horses, me. But am a real country girl, so it figures!

I'm a country boy! (and I bet I live in more of a rural place than you...)
But horses give me teh fear. They have an evil glint in their eye like they could turn at any moment, and they're about 10 times the size of me.

I've seen the aftermath of people being kicked in the head by them, and it certainly isn't pretty.

Donkeys, I'm fine with. But horses just seem evil...

horses
Some people are comfortable around them, some aren't. I am, there are only a couple of horses that I've ever been nervous around. But one of my holiday jobs was mucking out a paddock and yard, where a particularly difficult bastard (horse) lived. If one could be ok around him, one is generally safe!

I got kicked in the collarbone once, but am fine around horses. In fact, most of my horse-related injuries are from horse stopping suddenly in front of a jump, and me smacking my face into it's neck at high speed.

I love it when some random /talker posts a useless and crap post.
Then off topic just respond and run with it and end up discussing all manner of interesting stuff.

Love it!
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 17:27, Reply)
I think that's an opinion.
Rather than a fact.

For both the first and seconf points.
(, Fri 19 Dec 2008, 22:00, Reply)
yay.
It's actually polishing a turd!
