My Christmas has been fine, New Year alas is shaping up not to be so. Mum's remaining dog (the other one died back in June, and she is much missed) appears to be dying of liver failure.

Sorry to hear about your mum's remaining dog. At least you might be around to say your final farewells.
I've had a quiet but relaxed Xmas. My mum even got me a T-shirt showing all the areas of the Shipping Forecast.

Hope all are well. I've worked all over the Christmas period but only have two more shifts to do before 5 days of sweet, sweet rest.
The only downside has been coming home and seeing all of the massed populace tottering about in various states of sobriety. That hurt that did.

Thank God.
I went home before my mother got the ready made party food out and escaped being sick unlike the rest of my relatives and the dog.
I have the first coat of paint on my kitchen ceiling and apart from putting on 4 pounds, I'm quite happy.
Oh, and my new Klipsch noise cancellation earphones are ace.

@SMS: Never mind the missing out. Just enjoy your rest.
BTW: What is it you do that makes you have to work over Xmas?
@BGB: Phew! That was a close one! Maybe all the sick people might just give your mother a hint. If not, they may have to exaggerate their ailments next year.

I was just looking at doing one of these, hope things have gone well for all

...all. Hope we all had a good Christmas. I'm writing this on my first day back from Norway.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooo, did I have a great time!

I've had a cracking break, apart from full-on crippling flu.
Lots of cool DVD gifts, research stuff for the Great Big Adventure (including all of Coast on DVD) and four days with my daughter. Couldn't ask for much more really.
Then a couple I know came round and offered to build the charity web site and multimedia hitch-hike blog for the Adventure. Most exciting!
Hope you all had/are having a good break. Apart from the dying animals :(

was uneventful, spent it with family and catching up with chums. I'm home until the 5th Jan just chilling before I've got to return to studentland which is rather nice.
Sorry to hear of the food poisoning and dog deaths, there's never a good time of year for those but christmas time just makes it that much worse (unless it's you who has escaped the food poisoning, mwahahaha)

He had a good innings, thankfully. What's even odder is I took him for a good long walk before I came back home, very glad I did. Two dog deaths in one year. I guess he gave up the ghost after Jess died because his fur went white all over his face in the space of a month. Ah well.

A Home Sweet Home thread? About time. I have mainly been bored during the festivities. Now looking forward to the adventure known as hogmanay.

I had a quiet but good christmas. Went back in to work yesterday and picked up confirmation that I'm now officially enrolled as a student veterinary nurse and I start college in less than a month.

How is everyone? My Christmas was the same as usual. I ate too much, and will make a new years resolution to not eat so much, which will last all of four hours, if previous experience is anything to go by.
Edit: Congratulations Becky!

@No3l: Sounds like you're looking forward to your adventure already. Pity about the flu.
@beckx:
Congratulations on your enrolment. Hopefully, this will be the foundation you need to make 2009 an infinitely better year for you than 2008.
@Pretty strangers and promises:
Hi, Haven't seen you around for a while. How are things at your end?
( , Sun 28 Dec 2008, 21:38, Reply)

Things at my end are good. The boyfriend's back for Christmas, and all are relatively healthy. What about you?
And by the way, what is a bouche douche?
( , Sun 28 Dec 2008, 21:43, Reply)

I'm staying at my parents' for the Xmas break and just chilling out and playing with my PSP and parents' cat.
In case you're wondering about my boardsig, "bouche-douche" literally means "mouth-shower" - presumably slang (possibly made-up slang) for puking. It's a quote from the radio-show On the Hour (which later moved on to TV to become The day Today). Basically, it's a fake news-programme and they had a segment in which there was a French version of On the Hour (called Sur l'Heure) which consisted of someone speaking in French (obviously written and spoken by an English person but still good French). One of the lines was "Le pape avait fait un bouche-douche sur la tête d'un bébé".
If you can find it on bittorrent or whatever, have a listen - it's good. The bit with "Sur l'Heure" is in the 2nd series (I think there may have been two or more Sur l'Heure segments).

"Why is it so messy in your resthome?"
"It's because they're sick everywhere! If they're sick they should clean it up themselves."
Search the t'interwebs and listen to it if you haven't already, it's very good.
