I've been with the same boss for around 9 years. We started the office together and have since grown to 25 workers with him taking on Director and me Deputy roles. We are what you could call "thick as thieves".
I have a moral problem. He recently go into trouble at HQ and asked me write my version of events. I did so without a second thought. Now I'm being called into a disciplinary meeting next week. What do I do? Defend myself? Tell them he asked me to do so (which they already know anyway)? I don't want to take the blame as it's not my bad and I don't want to be lumped in as a trouble-maker either. but I don't want to make it worse for him.
What to do? Where do my loyalties lie? Should I offer to suck off the HQ Director?
Help!

If you were honest, I don't see why there should be a problem.
If you lie, you will be discovered. Even if nothing is said out loud, there'll be things that don't quite add up, and it'll be noted.

He made the request basically because I was involved in the problem (with a third party) but as a spectator. I was in the meeting where the problem arose.
I did not lie; I just gave my version of events and was quite objective. I did not write saying "My boss for president" or anything like that. However, I did leave clear that the other party was in the wrong, which is clearly the case to anyone who isn't a total retard.
I guess he asked me because, supposedly, I was a respected member of the firm and usually my opinion is asked for in such cases anyway. It seems for some reason this time there's something else going on.....

Curious that your mate'd be the one to ask for a written account - that's all.

He is a friend because we've been working together for 10 years. However, he is still the Director and my boss and I am in a position (supposedly!) of responsibility. I neglected to mention that I am not the only one who put forward their opinon and other people do not have the same relationship.
I only wanted to make clear that we are friends because if we weren't I wouldn't worry about telling then he asked me write my account to save my own skin. See?

Honest account? Check
Two agreeing versions? Check
No other witnesses? Maybe.
Brazen it out I say. Only way to go.

That's what I was thinking. It's going to be TEH EVILZ. I reckon HQ is going on a powertrip anyway, you know - reinforcing who is the most important or something. They probably don't even give a shit about this whole thing really *
*trying to convince myself

My guess would be that the person in the wrong made a big deal to the HQ people and they are covering their asses by having the disciplinary meeting in the first place. OR, the person in the wrong did something bad enough to take the disciplinary action further than your boss, hence the meeting to get the facts.
Either way, I agree with the others, just tell the truth and stick to it. You've already written out the truth, perhaps they are too important to read and feel you should take time out of your day to read it to them. (Or they want to hear your version in person so they can ask any questions they have)
But sucking off the director never hurts....could be a promotion in it for you.

You're probably completely right about them wanting me to read it out or something. After all, we are talking about retard central, here.
Thanks guys, I feel better now. Oh, and I'll bear in mind your idea for a promotion. Woo!
