You b3tans are a well-travelled bunch, so lets hear some suggestions.

is the Scottish Parliament building and next to that is a big lookout hill with a great view of the whole city. If it's a nice day, take a sandwich, hike up there and chill out. It's a bugger of a slope if you take the 'short' path though.
Grassmarket has some brilliant bars too. Less touristy and more studenty for low, low prices.

Is a must.
Fuck the Royal Mile pub crawl as it's a bit expensive and full of tourists.. Instead go for the Row Street pub crawl (runs parallel with Princes Street.
Go see the Edinburgh Dungeons Tour (at night very fucking scary). I shat myself doing this 4 real.
If its sunny be sure to wander around the city centre, and goto the Gardens underneath the castle to frolick and play.
Emm thats about all I can think of..

That reminds me, I'm seriously looking forward to a fried breakfast with haggis :D
EDIT: What's so good about the Zoo?
And would you recommend going on the Saturday or the Sunday?

and get tragically pissed, eat doner and chips, get unexplainable cuts and bruises and sleep in your clothes.

you keep telling me how you're the best person to go to the zoo with so my expectations are high!

In the whole world.
EVER.

Glasgow trumps le Edinburgh. But that isn't all that helpful.
I feel the zoo would be of interest to you Kaol, due to your area of training. I got chased by some swans there when I was younger. Not fun.

Is fantastic, I've been there loads before I moved to London.
Ghost tour thingy would be a laugh.

Glasgow is a shithole. And you're likely to be stabbed.

that houses a sword donated by my grandfather that had been in our family for about 500 years. My father said it's so fucking huge he couldn't lift it until he was about 12.
Thinking about it, that's probably more interesting to me than it might be to you, but hey - that's my Edinbugh 2 cents' worth.
Sorry it's a bit poor, old bean.

But it makes it a bit more like a fun game walking about over here.

Is it here? www.nms.ac.uk/warmuseumhomepage.aspx ?
Sounds good!
I kinda wanna do the castle anyway, and that's there.

whether the zoo has cats.
Freaking Edinburgh =D
:edit: Castle and the museum are worth a visit especially if you stay for more than 45-60mins... I hate to think what the cost per minute of that visit was.

I'm pretty annoyed it didn't stay in the family actually. The amount of top-notch militaria that's gone the same way is heartbreaking.
Bequeath to the nation my arse. I want WEAPONS!

on Prince's street
Get fucked and climb Arthur's seat so you get to the top at sunrise- actually you should all stay up and do this post bash
Go to the brass monkey pub which has a room full of matresses and a cinema screen with awesome films on
Get hot chocolate from Chocolate Soup on the Royal Mile
And go on a tour of this-it's scary as fuck and unbelievable what happened to people- they sealed off the whole close during the plague and left them to die
And get anything you want deep fried at the Rose St Fry
(, Wed 8 Apr 2009, 13:07, Reply)
for the Rose Street pubs. There's a challenge you can do: starting at one end, drink a half in each pub as you go down and you have to make it to the other end without being sick or going for a piss.
I think it's impossible though. Depends on how many pubs there are these days.
Also, Edinburgh Castle is actually really good, you can spend ages wandering around the fucker.
And from the Royal Mile late at night there's a ghost tour - the one I went on was really good; it was done by local students so it was quite energetic, and it is a bit spooky wandering around Greyfriars cemetary in the pitch black hearing about famous poltergeists. Bollocks or not, it's spooky. Great gift shop at the end too, full of old crap horror films on VHS.

and the Cafe Royal pub, at the end of Rose Street I think, does the best pint of Deuchars around. Plus in there I saw a middle-aged American man in the toilets pissing with his hands on his hips, trousers undone, and leaning in a most comical way with his gaxe 'pon the heavens.
