Apparently I work for the BNP

I generally enjoy my job but it's becoming increasingly apparent that two people that I have to work with fairly closely with are massively racist cunts. Two sample conversations from today alone, both certified irony free:


Dave: *enters stage right having just arrived at the office*
Dave: I was walking down the High St this morning when this drugged-up spade called me a racist!
Me: You'd met before then?
Dave: *looks blank*

~~~~~~ later that afternoon ~~~~~~

John: 'Ere, Dick. What's this? I can't make head nor tail of it.
*shoves print out of some code on my desk*
Me: Ah, that's Perl. It can be a bit arcane.
Dave: Yeah, it's a bit of a minority language.
John: *whistfully* A bit like English in this country now really.
Dave: Yeah, tell me about it.
Me: *speechless*

I could have picked similar stories from almost any other day.

I really love this job- and the unemployment QOTW made me realise how bloody lucky I am at the moment- but it drives me up the wall having to put up with these two. Reporting them doesn't seem like much of an option as it's a small company and they are both tight with the CEO and HR bod. I guess I'll just have to cunt them in the fuck instead.

'Tis more of a steam venting rant than anything else, to be fair. It's been a long old week (and we're only at Wednesday!) and my flat mate isn't in to rant at so QOTW has to take the strain instead :-)

I'm a few beers into the evening now though, so the world looks better already!

Yeah - been there.
I don't know what's worse in that kind of situation - the fact you have to work with them or that other people might assume that you share their veiws. Damn, that sucks. You have my sympathy. Just try to avoid any convo topics that could lead them to ranting about whatever.

Start a conversation you know will cause a rant, but ensure a visitor is around who will complain seriously. Make sure it is obvious you don't share their views et viola.

*CONTROVERSY ALERT*
Re your colleagues' second comment: there are places where this is actually true.

A friend of mine teaches at a primary school in Whitechapel - only two of her pupils speak English as their primary language. The mental thing about this is that OFSTED inspections do not take this into account when assessing the learning progress of pupils.

I'm not suggesting that I'm being demeaned. I do find it frustrating having to work closely with people who feel that making those kinds of comments are acceptable in the workplace. Especially when I don't feel the normal course of action is open to me (for reasons that I've partially alluded to).

In an ideal world I would just accept that I have my opinions, they have theirs and at the end of the day we're only colleagues. On a better than average day I can do that. Sometimes I fall short.

If it bothers you that much you could make an off-topic post about it. Or have a wank. On the basis of the evidence I have gathered I would recommend the wank.

We all work with people who make stupid comments for one reason or another.

People are stupid, ignorant, racist, inbred, bobble-headed gobshites for the most part but my God are they entertaining.

With your common garden variety racist male, it's useful to put up pictures of Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks and the like about the place and see how long their racist integrity holds up against their sexy bitch assault - enjoy!

I can't say I find any of them overly sexy.

You could argue that Mr Nazi, although not a fan of non-aryans, is not adverse and fully appreciates the female form whatever colour.
