I need a cable to connect my phone to my computer
I need this because I want to copy my contacts over onto the new phone and I have more than you can fit on a SIM card.

Which stupid cunt thought that a limit of 100 and a bit contacts was reasonable, I can sort of understand it as it was a long time ago, but why has no-one updated the fucking system!?

And why can't you jsut store your contacts on a memory card and transfer that instead? Fucking stupid backwards thinking mobile phone manufacturers.

Anyway, the point of my moan is that I know the type of cable I need, but I can't find an actual shop that stocks it. Why is this so bloody hard? I don't want to wait four days for someone to post me one, I want to physically purchase one. Suggestions as to what I might try please.

(note: the cable is a nokia CA-70)

Have
both phones (old&new) got bluetooth?

Most of the phones I've used have an option somewhere to export/import the whole phonebook over bluetooth/IR.

That's a good idea
I might try that.

Nope they can't do that apparently.

Most modern phones
are able to copy contacts to the memory card, my N80ie and E90 did.

My Xperia X1 does too in fact.

What phone are you copying them to and from? Nokia do do a transfer wizard to/from symbian models

I'm currently on a Nokia 6230i
and i'm copying them to a nokia 6233

Ahhh
Nokia have an app that will do all this automatically for you. Should be under the settings menu.

Al, are you me a few years behind?
I did the same transfer with the same phones a couple of years ago, but just did it in blocks of 100 contacts. Didn't take all that long.

I'm just lazy
and I want to be able to organise them better too and I'm sure it would be quicker on a computer than on a phone.

Still, looks like i'm going to be very bored for the next few evenings. That said, the mrs is away next weekend and if i'm not transferring phone numbers I'll only be fruitlessly wanking.

Is that as opposed to wanking yourself off using a banana?

Cant you copy some contacts from Old Phone onto SIM, transfer to New Phone, store on phone memory not on SIM memory, repeat until all transferred?

I could if I had all the time in the world
but I would like to think there is a better way, hence the computer connection.

You'll have it done by the time you get a better solution :)

Data cable
You might have trouble getting the cable from a shop as both phones (6230i and 6233)are over 4 years old. I'd suggest ebay.

Another way to get the cable you need would be to try asking me nicely and I'll pop down the warehouse and see if I can find one for you.
