Why do you insist on having the television at such ear-splitting volumes that deaf dogs in the next town can hear your fucking soaps?
Are you hard of hearing? No, you're twenty-two, for fuck's sake.
Do the bass vibrations enhance your viewing experience? Possibly.
Does this aural assault stop me focusing on my chess game, or anything other than what she said to him, or who's shagging Tom? Yup.
Does it make me want to take chopsticks, ram them into your ears and wiggle them around until you stop twitching in your reclining chair? You bet your arse it does.
As I was saying, what fun and exciting things are you doing today?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!
/calms down.
I'm sorry. I'm just very excited that I HAVE NO MORE EXAMS!!!
Even better - I'm going up to melbourne for my first b3ta bash in three weeks! fuck yes!
how about you no3l?

dossing playing chess on the laptop, doing a bit more work on the web site and generally just getting to 3pm to earn my money and get home.
Might go out for eight or nine miles later if the weather holds. The sun is winning at the mo.
Good day then?

I took a blanket, my glove and beanie into the exam hall (a gym with *no* insulation*) and they shook them out to make sure I wasn't cheating. Then I wrapped up snuggly warm and did my last exam.
And then, I walked home from the bus, in the winter sunshine, singing along to "river run dry" by hunters and collectors. And now I has wine! YAY!
And to cap it all off - Grey's Anatomy comes on in about 3 hours.
so yes. an excellent day.
And chess is fun! (although I am useless at it)

I haven't really played for years, but started teaching daughter a couple of months back and got the bug. Now I've got two books and some awesome software and play a game or two a day.
That probably makes me massively geeky, but I'm down with that.
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:13, Reply)

but I can do a mean sudoku!
Not an electronic one though. It's got to be on paper so you can write in little numbers which might fit.

I can never get my head around it. My hats come off to those who can manage it. Same with chess. My brain starts running out of my ears.
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:29, Reply)

You have to have a logical mind, but otherwise, just keep practising it, and you'll get good at it.
Same goes for crosswords. Once you understand the odd synonyms compilers use, you can spot the answers relatively quickly. I used to download and complete the Times crossword every day in about 20 minutes. I'm out of practice now though, since they started charging for it online!
I've no patience for computer games though.

it's ace. I just do it mostly all in my head then fill all the numbers in. takes about 15 minutes to half an hour.

Although, I'd change it to "Why do you have to watch fucking soaps at all?" because they really are pointless drivel.
VC - congrats on the last exam!
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:12, Reply)

Don't you mock Soaps - Grey's is awesome and abuse to grey's shall not be tolerated. /hugs.
You feeling okay?
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:24, Reply)

Grey's isn't a proper soap. Neighbours, Eastenders, Coronation Street - they're all soaps and should be mocked.

It's AL wank worthy. That's how wank it is. (sorry al.)
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:31, Reply)

is wank-worthy, certainly.
But that's not what you meant, is it?
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:45, Reply)

Not what was meant. What if we got Al to start writing the scripts?
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:50, Reply)

an alternative, late night version of Neighbours would be good viewing.
There's so much potential for sex and violence which they can't show at tea time!
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:54, Reply)

Now I don't know who anyone is!
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 18:37, Reply)

And yeah, agreed. Why is it that when people listening to something at such a high volume it's completely invasive, they never listen to - or watch something decent?
My rant is - how come that in the last 6 months when I've been horribly unemployed I haven't had so much as a sniffle, and now, when I start work to-morrow do I feel like I've been gargling broken glass? (though honestly I'm just patheticaly grateful i've managed to get a job!)
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:31, Reply)

I've managed to hold out the whole two weeks I've had exams - as soon as my last exam finished today I started feeling a little ill and sore throaty. But I don't care cos I have no more exams! wheeeeee.
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:35, Reply)

Congratulations on no more exams though! The best bit is when you catch yourself worrying about exams and then you suddenly realise - hey! I don't have any more exams to worry about! - It's good that.
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:37, Reply)

And no more exams? Sounds like a good week to me!
( , Thu 11 Jun 2009, 8:45, Reply)

But it's all wrong because Libby's got a cock.

Haven't seen you in AGES. How was the stand up? Give Tulip a big sloppy kiss and hug from me!
/huggles fluffily

It all went very, very well. Consistent laughs all the way and the omedians said very nice things so I was most pleased.
