Cash
If you didn't tell anyone (except maybe a partner providing they'll keep quiet about it too), how much do you reckon you could win on the lottery without any visible signs that there is an unusually large amount of cash in the bank?

I wouldn't bother
I'd rub it in everyones faces, constantly.

If I won a tenner
everyone in the world would know about it right now.
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:12, Reply)
Probably quite a large amount
But people would probably be able to tell by me running round the office screaming.

I'd be discrete
And wear a t-shirt saying "Fuck off, I'm a millionaire!"
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:18, Reply)
People wouldn't know about it right away.
'til I moved into my purpose-built house.

I'd have it built in secret, somewhere, then just move in when it was all done.
And once the lasers were operational.

Yup
Good plan, Kaol. I like that.

*makes notes in the event of future lottery win*

Aren't all houses purpose-built?
If it's built for another purpose, it's not a house, but rather a shop, cathedral or missile silo
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:32, Reply)
House/evil lair/missile silo.

I reckon I could keep £1m quiet.
As long as the wife didn't find out. I'd still buy loadsa stuff, I'd just whinge about considerable (non-existent) debt.
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:24, Reply)
£2m
easy
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:29, Reply)
Easily enough
to wipe out any existing debt; mortgage, credit-cards, loans etc. But after that, whatever is left will be burning a hole in your pocket. Once you go out and buy a flash car, big house, 2 month cruise, it'll look a bit suspicious.

The moment the game is given away
is when I park a Ferrari in the middle of town,
pull a sledgehammer out and beat fuck into it right in front of everyone.
(, Wed 17 Jun 2009, 12:52, Reply)
Er.......as it happens.
*looks sheepish*

I got to be honest, the only thing that would really change in my life would be that I would just do volentier work instead of paid work.
It's not that I have a perticulary exclubient lifestyle, or have lots of money, it's just that I quite like my life... at least, all the aspects of it that can be changed by such a thing.

It won't help my health, it won't sort out my head-problems, and i'ld still need to work so I have something to do.

You guys are all forgetting one simple thing:
Spread the money across enough banks and accounts and you could easily hide the money from friends / family / spouses. True, you wouldn't collect as much interest on the amount, but at least it is hidden.

And if you are wanting to divorce without having to share the money, don't collect the lottery prize yet but hire a really good attorney to rush the divorce through....then collect your winnings very quietly......
