Temporary jobs are fun.
No real job on the horizon, so I've been doing under-the-table work instead. I've done house repair, consisting of tiling and wiring and plumbing, and now I have a (very) temporary gig for two weeks as an assistant to a friend who's going to Guatemala.

God knows wtf I'll do after that.

I have tomorrow free.
Seriously, let's get a beer or three. I need to get out and have some sort of recreation.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 19:51, Reply)
what do you mean by 'tomorrow'
do you mean tomorrow during the day?
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:05, Reply)
Pretty much any time.
My daughter is in NY, so I'm here alone. I'm not working. I have no one to worry about but myself and the cats at the moment. Therefore, "free" means that I can get out to the mountains as early as 9:00 am and stay out until night. I have the whole day to myself. My schedule is wide open.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:25, Reply)
sounds good to me
what are the mountains like?
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:28, Reply)
The area in question
has a highway that runs along the mountain peaks. From there you can look out over the valleys below, which is especially nice in the fall.

See for yourself.

Its magnificent

(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 21:00, Reply)
well I'm free after.....*checks schedule*
7pm tomorrow
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:30, Reply)
Send me directions and I can be there.
I can clean your room, but I think I'd rather pass on wearing a French maid's outfit, if it's all the same to you...

Where are good places to go for a beer out thataway?
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:35, Reply)
Wellllll....in my town in particular there is a Houlihans and a few other chain food type places
There's this: www.hotelstrasburg.com/ about 15 minutes away and then twenty minutes away opens the door to clubs and pubs.

I'll buy you a few beers but no one enters my room but moi.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 21:00, Reply)
beer makes for good recreation

(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:09, Reply)
Is that a euphemism?

(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 19:33, Reply)
Which one?
"$50 plus gas money", "lunch", or "clean my room"?
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 19:38, Reply)
No, that would be "Mow the lawn".

(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 19:52, Reply)
I have no grass

(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 19:57, Reply)
And hopefully no razor burn.

Hang on
Wax doesn't leave a burn normally? Unless you do it wrong...

This puts me off even more.
My roommate in Italy used to use an epilator and the sound made me feel ill :( hair should not be ripped out. Ever.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:50, Reply)
What sound?
The screaming?
(, Fri 26 Jun 2009, 14:44, Reply)
Sometimes when things are going badly.
It's helpful to remember that there are friends and family who are just as worried and will be there to help whatever happens.
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:13, Reply)
I have been relying on friends and family a lot lately.
It has been friends who have given me the odd jobs, and my family has been supportive- my parents tell me that if I really get stuck they'll help me financially. While it is helpful to know that people care and worry, it's still somewhat demoralizing to depend on others for basic needs...
(, Thu 25 Jun 2009, 20:27, Reply)
Demoralizing?
Not when they know you would do the same in an instant if the positions were reversed.
(, Fri 26 Jun 2009, 11:27, Reply)
$50 plus
room and board (well, couch and leftovers) to come clean my place.
