You're so incredibly wrong it's beyond funny.
Nation wasn't much good, but every single discworld book has been excellent. With the exception of Jingo, which was a bit formulaic. I didn't like The Fifth Elephant at first, but upon re-reading it, I changed my mind.

Don't think I read Jingo. I'm reading the plot outline and it's not ringing any bells :(

I've also lost all my discworld books in some freak blackhole event.

It wouldn't be unfair to say that Making Money was more or less just a rehash of Going Postal,
but Going Postal was great, so that's not an entirely bad thing. There hasn't been a bad Discworld book yet.

I still own them all
but I genuinely think that his earlier stuff was far superior; the last few have been written in a style that gets on my nerves and is really quite formulaic. But even so I'd rather pick up a crap Pratchett than half the stuff that's in the so-called book charts. I think Nightwatch was the last one I really enjoyed.

I think they got better and better up until you got to Men at Arms
I didn't think he would top that, but I think Feet of Clay was better. Then they have been consistently very good.

I would agree with that
but like I say - I think the Moist von Lipwig and Tiffany Aching novels (and Nation) weren't nearly as good as his earlier stuff. But, you know - meh, that's just my opinion. Personally, I would rather he wrote 2 or 3 more awesome books before he has to retire rather than churning out 5 or 6 progressively more crap ones.

I didn't think there was a new one out this year, but apparently there is, and it's about football. For all I'm moaning, I will be in the queue at Waterstones first thing on release day...

but kind of considered those to be an aside from the main stuff

I'd say that his writing has matured so much
probably most noticable in Night Watch.

the books are almost all utterly fantastic.

I seem to prefer the latest stuff, having not gone back and reread a bunch of the others for a while. I might set myself the task of rereading every Discworld book and see how I enjoy the progression.

I've misplaced my copy of Soul Music though, and that disturbs me.
