( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 20:32, Reply)

Well that's a bit off, isn't it?
You ought not to be calling people names, young lady. It's not the best way to make friends.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 20:36, Reply)

the girl can't help it.
but seriously, do you guys think i'm gay?
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 20:57, Reply)

He can plumb. I can do a fair bit of DIY but plumbing is a dark and mysterious art to me.
Fitting a pipe to another pipe I can do.
Attaching a pipe to another pipe 10 feet away is beyond my capabilities.

( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:32, Reply)

gonna scrounge some kit to set up a wee gym down at that unit of mine. i'm always there at the end of the day, what better time than that to kick the chuff out of a huge bag? grr.

a big punch-bag, about 5feet tall, full of sand would be the cardio-vascular workout i need. that is, on top of the weekly evening walks i go on with my mate the plasterer. northern fells of the lake district mainly, building up to bigger stuff in time!!
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:27, Reply)

UK heat is totally different to most US heat.
UK heat is like Northern Florida/Southern Georgia in the summer.
Even though the temperature isn't numerically high it WEIGHS A TON. It settles on your neck and shoulders and pushes you into the ground.
I was strolling around Alberquerque last year in 38 quite comfortably because it's dry.
I'm making assumptions - where are you?
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:31, Reply)

and really, comfortable in 38?
your brain must be foggy, thats obscene
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:34, Reply)

it's the humidity, or should that be dampness that's the killer here. all that water on top of you.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:38, Reply)

It's semi-arid - there's very little humidity and I'm a very hardy little chap.
Virginia is roll-through country to me. I've spent a day and night in Ashland, a few hours in Newport News and that's about it.
Spent far more time in the seccestional child, West Virginia.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:42, Reply)

let's be honest here, Virginia is boring
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:46, Reply)

My Ashland time was OK until the sun went down and everyone went to sleep.
I spent an hour trying to find a bar - any bar - in Newport News.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:48, Reply)

they've closed all the bars around here, we go to west virginia now, the most hopping place is T.G.I. Fridays.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:56, Reply)

TGI Fridays is the preferred haunt of the immediately post-pubescent around here. I expect you'd find some daytime O/T contributors in there, with notes from their mums...
Some of us must get up in 6 hours for work so - bedtime.

I've never really had an interest in watching, I've just watched a few minutes on youtube and it hasn't convinced me to join the dark side.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:00, Reply)

I've never really enjoyed Monty Python either.
Bicycle Repair Man was about 30 years ahead of it's time (see Big Train.)
As for the follow-ups - I can't bear Fawlty Towers but love Ripping Yarns.
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:07, Reply)

now I've got to go look up all this stuff so I know what you're talking about
edit: Bicycle repair man didn't bring the L0lz, maybe I'm broken
( , Wed 15 Jul 2009, 21:10, Reply)

I just like the idea of lots of Superheroes unable to fix their bikes.
If you didn't like that you probably won't like Big Train, which was a UK sketch show from the mid-nineties.

Golden Gordon (Barnestoneworth United) was filmed at Hirst Wood, Saltaire, where I quite often walk the hounds.
