Do any of you lovely people
categorise your music into memory playlists?

Or am I just sad?

Memory Playlists?
What in the shuddering fuck are they?

It's tricky to explain, but music from a certain era in your life.
Say, one year of uni; all the songs you were really really into then.

Fuckin weird !
I just banged on Third Eye Blind, something I've not listened to since I was 16ish, getting drunk on the local green with mates.

Yes
...but then, I am slightly geeky.

As am I.
I'm just relieved to not be alone...

Yes. Yes I do.
Songs from 6th form, Uni - songs when I was dating someone for a while, songs from summer. All sorts realy.

That is exactly what I do.
My most favouritest of all is my Lausanne one; sit back, close eyes, imagine looking out at Lake Geneva. Closely followed by first year of uni. More than anything it's an experiment in how my musical taste has changed...

I don't organise it in to playlists
But I certainly have a few tracks and albums that I associate with certain parts of life, rendering a few unlistenable. On the whole I'm far too lazy to make playlists.

I have unlistenable ones.
Leave The Light On by Belinda Carlisle upsets me - and by upsets I mean WAH DO NOT WANT GET IT AWAY FROM ME - for reasons I will explain to you tomorrow, if you so wish.

Kind of
Usually it's hearing a song that takes me back rather than having a playlist.

Tonight's nostalgia: Scream Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt:D

On a Rope is still a fucking tune!
(, Fri 17 Jul 2009, 22:28, Reply)
That's how I started doing it.
I listened to this so much in Switzerland that it is now inextricably linked with riding the metro to uni.

I have a "virtual" playlist stuck in my head...
I used to make tapes of whatever records I liked from my Dad's collection, and fill up a C90. I then used to stick that in my Walkman and listen to it until it wore out.

Even now some 15-20 years later there are some songs that when I hear them, just near the end I can remember which song would be coming next if I was listening to one of those tapes.
