What are a few albums you cannot stop listening to at the moment? Mine would have to be 'Showtime' by Nitzer Ebb, 'Converting Vegetarians' by Infected mushroom, and 'm4' by Faunts. Bonus points for obscurity and/or shame

of the "Space Oddity" album by David Bowie. Especially the title track.
That and "Sgt Pepper" by the Beatles. The way they invented Psychadelia makes me want to cream my pants.

Is that Mos Def album worth a listen, I have been meaning to investigate his stuff for yonks!
(, Fri 9 Oct 2009, 16:04, Reply)
Each album seems to have four or five great tracks and the rest is deleteable, so I downloaded every track he's ever done and I'm rating them as I hear them. Anything below four stars goes in the bin.
Edit: get Mos Definite and see how you get on. And if you like his stuff get Talib Kweli's Reflection Eternal too.

I never thought of him as a man of principles. I've just got incredibly hot for him.

Don't lie, you've always had the hots for him, this fact has just increased the heat!

Fabulous record.

I heartily recommend Edan. He is incredible. Real low-fi stuff - his second album is full of psychedelic loops and effects: totally original and generally excellent. Also Mr Lif - a talented MC for sure.

Can't you tell me the EXCELLENT stuff? Where is the David Bowie of the streets, keepin it real?

are they still going? I have to admit they didn't blow me away.
My current favourites are (still) Tractor's self-titled LP and the Performance film soundtrack which is in parts outstanding. Great bit of guitar playing by Ry Cooder on there.

As is Milliontown by Frost*. You should buy it. Now. All of you. And yes, they do have an asterisk after their name. Just to be "different", see?
EDIT: Here's a linky-poo to their song Black Light Machine. It makes strange things happen in my underwear. Happy things.

Their first album LOSS is all of the win English folk metal. Lovely. See recent review in terrorizer (sp). Just so you know what to expect.
"Loss" is a completely stunning display of epic, world building Pagan black metal, burning with the fires of England's ancient culture and antiquity. Brilliantly captured in Romania by Negura Music, the recording sessions reveal an otherworldly tone and rich atmosphere that hasn't been this majestically sculpted since the formative years of Emperor. "Loss" is a total escape from the modern complexities and uninspired cookie-cutter "product" turned out by the current black metal scene, to embrace the true power of a time that was alive with conviction and musical exploration. Traditional/folk instrumentation, soaring guitar/synth harmonies, and tortured vocals ride upon the dense aura so brilliantly created by Wodensthrone.
And the drummer is shithot.
