People were asking for me to be banned
because (and this is guess work because no one has actually said anything to me) I insulted workboresme, her posting style and her cats names in retalation for her calling gonzo a cunt.
It has been roughly compared to me encouraging suicide.
Most importantly workboresme doesn't seem that bothered and I've spoken to her since.

When she starts a thread specifically and exclusivly to call someone I know and like a cunt. I got involved. i didn't just flame her for no reason, I also told her to stop before I did.

If you're posting something that isn't general knowledge then expect confusion, you cannot expect every user to know your motivation for a post either you accept the confusion or you don't post.

Secondly I know why he was mocking her and it was in response to her frankly appalling "I had a fight tongiht I totally punched three guys out" post. That is not something to boast about and it deserved to be mocked.

Thirdly, I didn't blindly leap to his defence, I said "don't pick on gonzo you'll lose" she then replied saying she wasn't.

We can pick apart what specifically in my final response was so terrible later.

Firstly, do I really need to answer that initial question? Why on earth would anyone ever want to inform themselves before entering a discussion? Er, I dunno, maybe so they don't come across as a complete fuckwhit?
Secondly, none of the a priori information is anything but general knowledge. Posted publicly on a public website on the internet. Gottit?

We need to clear this up. wbm got fed up with Gonz making basically abusive references to her cat as I mentioned in my previous thread. It was not about the violence incident. That incident actually referred to her leaping (not blindly) to the actual physical defence of the son of her partner. At no point did she brag about her actions. If you had bothered to check the source material you would be aware of this. Again, this is all publicly available info.

Finally, you DID leap blindly in simply by chosing to act before equipping yourself with the relevant facts. I think that satisfies the definition rather well. And you did so with a deliberately menacing use of words.

For someone with a degree in Psychology you really do let the academic side down.

Firstly yes you do have to answer the question. This is not an essay, do you expect every new member of the board to read the archives? Do you read every thread every day? Or do you just wait for your interfriends to gaz you something to be offended about?

I didn't imply you personally "encouraged" suicide. I implied that it's pretty heartless to make someone feel worse than they already do especially if you know they've got problems. And then they've been blamed for being oversensitive rather than the original posters taking responsibility for the fact that their posts were hurtful which is childish and downright unfair. I'd have more respect for someone who said "yes I'm intending to hurt someone and I don't care" than the people who try to justify it.

I don't want to talk about workboresme in the third person, as you said she hasn't actually asked us to defend her. So leaving her out of it, I still think your posts, and those of some others, were unnecessarily hurtful and that's all.
