I finally got all the Christmas presents
And just realised that for my siblings I've only bought alcohol or alcohol related things.

Do you think that's a call for problems?
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:52, 38 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I'm struggling with a present for the other half
Thinking of some kind of jewellery but I haven't got a clue whats nice or not. A man curse.

Might just have to dump her now and see if I can get back in after the festivities are over...

give her a pearl necklace

always one in the pipe for you

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:34, Reply)
I've given her this before..
it was a bit upsetting for all concerned. I thought the best time to present it would be during a family meal. It did not go down well.

I don't know if I can help
I'm a woman, but I don't like jewellery, flowers, cosmetics... I always find that buying for boys is a lot easier than for girls.

However, I've heard that jewellery is always right for normal women, so a nice set or earrings and bracelet should be perfect. Depending on how much money you want to spend.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:01, Reply)
Earrings right..
£0.00 to £100.00 is the budget. Wherethefuckdopeoplebuythesefuckers

Elizabeth Duke is very "in" at the moment.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:15, Reply)
local independant jewellers are generally best in my experience
nicer stuff for a bit less money.

make sure it's not some shitty old-fashioned one though. modern jewellers are quite good though.

I've spent a fair amount of time in them recently, setting wheels in motion
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:21, Reply)
Cheers and good luck with that
In a wee town such as this there are 2 old-fashioned types. Might be better of with Argos but I'm gonna pop in to these jewellers today and tell them what is going down...
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:32, Reply)
Nah
We've bought everyone booze. Its easy and people like it.

All this putting thought in to things is bollocks. The only thinking I do is "what would I want?" and if I got booze I'd be happy.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:01, Reply)
I hope they think like you
The problem is that I did put a lot of thinking into it, and I only could think of alcohol. Ay.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:05, Reply)
everyone loves booze, don't they?

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:08, Reply)
Ewan McGregor doesn't

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:32, Reply)
It interferes with the Force.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:35, Reply)

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:48, Reply)
Exactly
You're not an alcoholic if you can still hold a lightsaber.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:53, Reply)
Only because it's the only legal drug that's reguarly available and that'll get you intoxicated.
I can take or leave booze, and never drink unless I'm with someone else drinking, and even then, I'm never the one to choose getting drunk.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:57, Reply)
Although I know it sounds terrible, the best give you can give them is to force them into rehab.
I know you don't quite understand the problem, nobody without it can, but through the help of friends and family, you can help them to become a better person. I'm not going to pretend to know much about it, but if you call up Alcholics Annon, they could help you convince your siblings that it's really the right path.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:07, Reply)
giving yourself to The Lord might also help

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:09, Reply)
That's almost a requirement for Alcoholics Anonymous.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:36, Reply)
I don't really think they're so bad
I think it's more of a problem with my lack of imagination.

Also, The Lord has a lot of troubles to worry about right now, more important than my bad taste.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:23, Reply)
The Lord has enough time to listen to all of His Children.
Don't ever think just because The Lord has to deal with so much, war, famin, pestulance... that he doesn't have time to listen to you and your quest to make peace with your family.

He works in mysterious ways, and that's ok, as long as He's working.

Thedrinkshop.com did quite well by me
The brother is getting a case of Peroni Gran Riserva and his gf a case of Katy. A fine single malt for a mate and a specialist vodka for another. Glug glug!

if you can face running the gauntlet of pooves
the best off license of all time is on Old Compton Street in that there London. Incredible range of rare and weird spirits.

As a stunningly handsome man it's quite unpleasant walking down there, but you'd probably be OK.
