Evening b69
Alas, the Channel Tunnel is b0rked which means my plans to spend Xmas hibernating at my parents' are delayed by two days. I don't have any food in my flat to prepare so it's takeaway for me tonight.

yeah, that's a bugger!
it was too warm in the tunnel. allegedededededly
this gravy is gonna blow they tiny minds!
one day i will document it.
(, Mon 21 Dec 2009, 20:22, Reply)

They must have sent toomany gravy-trains down the tunnel and the heat from the gravy must have heated it up.

surely with all that gravy about they could've just manned the lifeboats and rowed to freedom?
pah!
(, Mon 21 Dec 2009, 20:28, Reply)

Of course, they could just install a river of gravy in the tunnel and in case of train-b0rk, each train should carry a full Navy's worth of life-boats.

Evening All
Just ate a very large chicken pie with fresh veg, followed by the worlds largest piece of victoria sponge cake.

Am now pleasantly full, and smug - having been off since Friday and have avoided some stressful work situations (driving trains in snow is NOT fun when you inevitably break down). Hopefully it will have all melted by Wednesday afternoon when I'm back.

Evening webscoop
I too have been off since Friday, but as I mentioned above, my plans have been b0rked by a combination of Train-Fail and Tunnel-Fail.

Smug
However I shouldn't look too smug - my car died today, and I was forced to spend 4 hours waiting for a very nice RAC man to turn up and tow me home.

Going to cost many £££ to fix probably too, Bloody stupid ice/snow... bah!

Engine
Exhust Manifold went and for some reason the coolant fluid has developed a liking for pissing out all over the engineblock. Hopefully nothing a visit to a breakers yard and/or ebay to source replacement parts won't fix. Just a pain and added expense not needed this time of year.

i had a volvo 340 (my favourite ever car what i have owned) which had a cracked exhaust manifold when i got it.
JP welded it up for me 3 times.
in-situ! saved me a bit of cash over the 3 yrs i had it.
only paid £50 for the car. got more for it when i scrapped it.
what you driving?

Renault Megane Scenic - I've been told by 3 people today that anything French is designed to fall apart after 100,000 miles. Mine's done 100,355. Eek!
(, Mon 21 Dec 2009, 21:49, Reply)
i never have and never would own a renault.
i had a 2cv as my 2nd car after a chevette.
i still would never have a renault.
ever.
not even a 5gt turbo.
they are designed to fall apart.
it's not even like the lancia thing with the low quality steel, it's like they wanted to exemplify "designed-in obselescence" or summink.

but i would have a fuego...

Evening
I have just spent 20 minutes on boardgamegeek.com to answer a question from a guy I shared a house with at Uni.

"What was that boardgame we used to play in our 2nd year at uni? It was medieval/renaissance and involved some overseas conquest/trading. We used to play it at home"

Not a lot to go on, eh? Especially when you consider that was TWENTY-ONE years ago.

I'm fairly certain it was one of Warrior Knights or Blood Royale. Or Kingmaker. One of them. We certainly played all of them that year. Once I saw the names there was a TING! of remembering, although I can't remember much about the games themselves.

evening.
it was during student days, yeah?
i never try to remember what went on back then...

I am feeling smug today, as I talked to my "supervisor" this morning and as it's so dead I don't have to work for the rest of the week :D
