Ohrwurm . . .
my neice currently loves this video and song . . .

www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbY6SYtvs7M&feature=related

This is the Greek version, but she'll happily listen to French, German, Hungarian and Hebrew, dancing along to "Gummi." Now my Mum wants me to get a hold of the DVD/CD - I have chosen to download a few of the songs via the wonderfulness of Audacity from YouTube.

What songs can you not get out of your head?

"I am a Gummi Bear, I am a Gummi Bear, I am a Yummy Tummy Funny Lucky Bear . . . . Argh!"

(Apologies if you listen to the above and end up singing it all day . . .)

Edit: yes, I am looking for suggestions to get this blody song out of MY head . . .

at the moment: Holy Diver by Dio
and Counting Sheep by Bigelf

wandering around singing "I despise your kind" to yourself earns you some weird looks

Have I entered into some sort of contract, or do I have 7 working days to review?

I currently have The Safety Dance in my head
which it a little bit annoying, but its my own fault for putting it on my iPod and then putting my iPod on shuffle this morning so it played it on my way into work!

I also have some random song in my head off The Mighty Boosh about electric sailors that I can only remember a few lines of... that's really irritating.

*awaits Monty's moan about The Mighty Boosh*
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 10:49, Reply)
wasn't it future sailors?

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 10:50, Reply)
From the episode with the imposters

I like Old Gregg.

'I'm Old Gregg! You ever drunk Bailey's from a shoe?'
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 10:54, Reply)
'Do ya wanna go to a club where people pee on each other?'

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:12, Reply)
the cockney nutjob with the big thumb and polo-vision is awesome

Very similar, but British.

have a look at 'I Don't Need No Doctor' by Humble Pie,

then thank me profusely for sharing my expertise with you on this soggy and otherwise dull day.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 10:59, Reply)
How do you feel about the song
Doctor Doctor by UFO?

and for that matter, the one about the faith healer by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band?
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:00, Reply)
Never quite sure about UFO
AHB were great though.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:03, Reply)
I think I only know the one song from each of them
I like AHB's style though
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:04, Reply)
UFO were going for fucking ages
and they changed their style quite a bit from their early 'space rock' stuff (more my scene) to the later stuff with Michael Schenker, who is a bit of a helmet.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:06, Reply)
Yes, Yes I do

*adds to download list*

I've been pondering a bit more classic rock for my collection, so this could be a good springboard to get me motivated.

Nazareth never get the respect they're due, if you ask me
'Hair of the Dog' is a work of untrammelled genius.

For everyone else that didn't understand this ^^

Adj. 1. untrammelled - not confined or limited

I always have Kety Perry songs stuck in my head because they are awesome catchy pop
I like to ring my best friend's office and blast Katy down the phone. She hates Kety Perry but she loves me so she laughs and calls me a cracked cunt.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:01, Reply)
I seriously fucking hate things like that.
It's trying to jump on the success of The Crazy Frog, rather than being origional or unique.

It's purely designed to sale ringtones and other mobile-phone related stuff.

I can think up a few versions.
Berocca advert ripping off OK GO's "Here we go again"
and the Hole In The Wall stuff.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:03, Reply)
Here we go again is great
the video is extra awesome, and that rip off of it makes me insane. They worked hard to come up with that shit, and then some cunt advert nicks it (hopefully they paid for it)
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:05, Reply)
So many ads are ripped off from creativity in Music

and increasingly the internet, that's why I stpped working in the industry and not because I couldn't geta job, cunts
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:07, Reply)
Try listening to half a dozen versions, as you try to compile a CD for a 2 year old . . .
that, is painful. Really painful.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:06, Reply)
good reason not to have children

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:10, Reply)
It gets worse . . .
Hi 5 (Junk music for kids), The Wiggles, Dora the Explorer . . . the list of junk music goes on and on . . .

Back in my day, we had Play School, Rainbow and The Wombles . . . good clean, children's music . . .

(Stamps and clutches blanket whilst holding ear trumpet to the Off Topic Board)

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:16, Reply)
Dio's lyrics were a bit 'O' Level, I grant you,
but I wouldn't call Rainbow children's music.

Ahahahah Monty you card, you.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:18, Reply)
I like what you've done there

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:20, Reply)
Aren't those all British
and aren't you an Aussie?

The wombles wombats
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:22, Reply)
Watching the ABC in the 70s and 80s . . .
it *was* all British . . .

Except Play School - which had local actors
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:24, Reply)
Well your very lucky, we have to pay for that shit!

I was really pissed and had partaken in other substabances in acrappy nightclub at Uni, when I heard a strange yet familier voice, I looked around and there was zippy and george doing an appearance...I was very confused and a little scared
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:27, Reply)
I was once out of my mind in a mate's car
driving along the Embankment, and when we stopped at the lights, alongside us was The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, which was excellent.

It was some Nickelodeon promotional thing but still smart.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:29, Reply)
I had visions of the "Doobie Snacks" scene from "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"
after reading that description.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:33, Reply)
Mind you, the same channel used to broadcast
"The Goodies" at 4-ish, after school, when kids had come home and were likely to want to watch before dinner.

Legless tells me in the UK it was billed as a more adult programme. Kids' TV here.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:28, Reply)
Nah, kids' TV here too

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:32, Reply)
my daughter's favourite song is 'Back in Black'
I have video footage of her getting on down to it.

She also loves The Ramones - I am very proud of her.

(and a load of tosh from CeeBeebies if I am completely honest)
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:17, Reply)
get her singing I wanna be sedated
loud in public, to embarrass her mother
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:21, Reply)
if i get her to sing 'Beat on the Brat with a baseball bat'
hopefully Social Services will take her away from her mum and she could come and live with me.

The Ramones' 'It's Alive' LP is one of the best live records by anyone, ever.

Since the post about annoying spakkers..
...I have been singing 'Mr Spakkaman' to the tune of 'Mr Loverman' by Shabba Ranks. (or 'Shabby Wanks' as he was called in Tuggerland)
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 11:14, Reply)
You are cruel!!!!
I thought that I was through all of this now that my daughters are adults; but no, your post made me unintentionally think of some of the songs they used to drive me nuts with when they were little. Now I have a melody of several horrible songs taking over what little brain I have left.
