Band that you wish did a bit more, or that you liked at the time and forgot about.
I'm going through old bands that I loved at the time, and finding what they've done since they "Made that single that everyone liked and now nobody knows who they are", or bands that you wish did more but haven't.

- Starrfadu
- Nizlopi
- Speedway
- Semisonic
- A*

I've listened to Dan Le Sac & Scroobulus Pip's latest album about 5 or 6 times now, and it's very disapointing compaired to the first one, in my opinion. They have a few good tracks, but in general it's not very good (in compairson).

* They have one good album, the rest is all expermental shit.

A
I saw them supporting Reef with Feeder years ago.

they were fucking awesome. never heard anything before or since.

I was just reading about Tool who are apparently working on their next album. I can't fucking wait!

oh man, I bet that was a good gig, I'd have quite enjoyed that.
The album they did with 'nothing' on was whicked, but I've got a couple of their other albums and they're rubbish.

it was great
Reef were so good I stopped listening to their CDs because it didn't compare. It was before Feeder became shit, and A were superb.

1994 I think it was.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:55, Reply)
I can't remember any Reef stuff, I like most of Feeder's stuff though.
I'd live to see The Offspring play one day, I'm not really into live music, but that's one I'd like to see.

I'd have liked to see them when Smash was released
partly because I'd feel awfully old there these days with the audience they probably get.

Reef did that song Place your hands

not one of their best frankly. Their best of album is worth having, if only for the cover of the Kenny Rogers song "Just dropped in (to see what condition my condition was in)"
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:11, Reply)
Supergrass did a cover of that on the Alright/Time single
It was better than anything Reef ever did.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:14, Reply)
wrong
Reef's cover of it is superb. Their best songs were a couple of their B sides strangely, called Talk to Me and Give me your love.

Supergrass have done some great stuff though, I'll give you that

I had a pint with them in...
1996 or 1997.

Tool is a band.
you are thinking of Annie O'Toole from Kirkby.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:56, Reply)
I meant A, you cocker
I know of the O'Tooles from Holy Cross parish.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:00, Reply)
I did know an Annie O'Toole from Kirkby.
My friend Chris used to call her Any Old Tool because she was very fond of public sex.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:11, Reply)
Eeeh!
I wonder if she was related to the O'Tooles from town
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:17, Reply)
She was particularly fond...
...of the changing rooms at M & S and upstairs on buses.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:24, Reply)
BGB wrote a thread at the exact same time as you
and she's had two replies, but you've had none. How does that make you feel?

EDIT: Fine, one.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:48, Reply)
Absolutely and inrevocakbly gutted.
Not only do I get an £80 fine for dropping a fag on the floor today, but this happens too !

This is NOT conductive to a positive outlook for today. In fact, quite the opposite, this is the worst day of my life.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:53, Reply)
well that's what happens when you put fags out
on MOTHER EARTH'S FACE!
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:53, Reply)
AND, ..... AND..... they made me pick it up and put it in the bin.
I figure if I paid to litter, then I should have at least left it littered, it's a bit like paying for a meal and them taking it away again.

Life Sucks.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:55, Reply)
have you learned your lesson though?

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 13:59, Reply)
Yeah', I think I have, I can't see me making that mistake again.

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:02, Reply)
It was a fair cop, nothing I could do about it, it was my fault and I shouldn't have done it.

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:03, Reply)
£80 is pretty harsh
but if it stops people littering then I'm happy. But not happy that you have to pay £80, as you're my internet friend. You could pick up coins from the street until you've made £80 back, then you'll be removing litter AND reimbursing yourself.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:08, Reply)
I thought it would be like £40 or £50, I shouted "how much" as I got onto the bus and he said "80" =(
I think it's fine as long as he does it to everyone who litters, there are loads of people who litter, we have two schools and a collage near me. If I wasn't waiting for the bus I would say "It's 11:30 and I'm waiting for a bus, I ovbously don't have a job, can we forget it this time and it won't ever happen again", but I was running really late.

At the end of the day, I shouldn't have done it, and I knew there could be a fine, but just didn't think. And as you said, it won't happen again.

I reckon though, they should wear some sort of high-vis clothing, not a black bomber jacket with a small logo on the back.

Why didn't you just tell him to fuck off?
he's not a copper, has no powers of arrest and cant force information out of you.

You should have used your contacts to get off with it ;)

el Records...
...I bought more albums from this label than I could afford at the time (late 80s). Last year I found about 20 that I didn't have at a car-boot sale and fell in love again.
Truly magical.

Semisonic released a few tracks
Secret Smile was wank, but Chemistry & Get A Grip were awesome.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:16, Reply)
I love most songs on the album "Feeling Strangely Fine".

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:30, Reply)
Scars On Broadway
did one album and they split. Got to see them live though :)
Had two guys from System of a Down in the band

Scroobius Pip vs. DLS
See them live, seriously.

I got the album on Friday last week, and thought the same as you - a few good tracks, but overall it's not as good.

However, if you see them performing the same tracks live, I swear you'll like them more - they put a passion and humour into them that simply doesn't come across on a studio recording. I've been listening to the album again today after seeing them last night, and am finding the album ace now!
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:31, Reply)
Wow, most of their london stuff is sold out =(
I'd quite like to see them, I reckon their gigs would be quite good.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 14:41, Reply)
they are.

A vs Monkey Kong
is an awesome album.

I first got into them vaguely through that TV show 'The Young Person's Guide to Being a Rock Star'... Anyone remember that?
