Well-timed thread. Courier has just been. My new printer has arrived.
I'm having toast for lunch.

I have to go and post Amazon marketplace stuff to frickin' Jersey. That's a hassle.

What's in your box(es)?
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 12:57, Reply)
Nothing
I work in a box factory so I get sent boxes made by our competitors to see how much better they are compared to our boxes.

My life rules just that much
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:00, Reply)
Do you get to keep the boxes?

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:02, Reply)
If I really want to
My desk is surrounded by boxes though. I don't really need any more
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:04, Reply)
how is that more or less hassle than posting it anywhere else?

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)
You have to fill in a customs declaration.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:01, Reply)

I'm waiting for some new RAM
but it's not urgent as I won't have my computer until Wednesday. And then I'll need to install Windows first.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:00, Reply)
You don't have to install windows before installing RAM.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:06, Reply)
Can I install a new PCI firewire card before installing windows too?

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:07, Reply)
You can do whatever you want my dear.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:08, Reply)
This is true
But I was actually trying to ask your opinion, as someone who knows about computers a bit, as to whether I was better off installing windows then adding the new PCI card, or whether to stick everything I need in the case first, then fire it up and install windows.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:10, Reply)
Depends, what version of windows are you using?
Have you got driver software for your pci card?
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:13, Reply)
Short answer though is "I would put it in first"
you might get some conflicts but once you install the drivers and restart it should sort itself out, there's no reason to put the hardware together in stages.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:15, Reply)
I'm installing Windows XP
and I tried the card in another XP machine and it worked fine without a driver CD.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:18, Reply)
Stick it all in at the same time then
then go through the device manager once you've got an internet connection and update the driver for it.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 13:19, Reply)

I would like some books as I've run out of stuff to read. I've just spent £8 on a paperback from WH Smith ffs. I'd also like a poster of Jeff.

My £28 Saxon DVD would be nice.
I fear I may be waiting some months for it, though. I'm also expecting a vinyl copy of Airbourne's new LP. I wish I hadn't ordered it, having played a couple of the tunes on YouTube after having placed the order. They sound a bit shit.

A wife
Haven't decided whether to go for Japanese, Thai or Russian just yet.

I had a rather nice pub lunch, quite unexpectedly, after receiving an email at about quarter to twelve saying that one of us was leaving so we were going to the pub. (To think I'd been good and made sandwiches this morning and everything...)
