I just had to take a minute
to work out how old I am. With actual calculations and stuff.

What have you done today that's so massively thick you can't help but belm at yourself?
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:12, 75 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Nothing!
I've been very sharp today but you'd never guess so from my posts.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:14, Reply)
ahhh if you make everyone think you're thick
no one expects anything from you.

Sly.

When I was a kid I got very confused at school when the teacher was trying to teach us about Ede
because we made sweets to mark the occasion, which I thought were called Ede. When I moved to a different school and suggested that Ede was a delicious baked item I think I remember being mocked quite severely.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:23, Reply)
It's spelled 'Eid'
*mocks quite severely*

I beg to differ
you said voting for the Conservatives was a good idea.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:25, Reply)
we'll have no politics in this thread please.

(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:27, Reply)
and I was right
you're probably still grinding your teeth over Thatcher
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:28, Reply)
Were you even born when Thatcher was around?

(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:29, Reply)
1988 birth here
but I think I'm perfectly capable of understanding something without having lived through it
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:30, Reply)
She's not the reason not to vote tory though
it's their inability to grasp that savage spending cuts and less restrictions on banks and financial services will lead the country back into a recession. It's been 18 months since any of the big private housebuilders have started new projects and it's finally creeping back. I really don't want to be unemployed as I like my job and I like my house, and if they get in there is a very good chance that my company will go bust.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:35, Reply)
But
THATCHER.

How are you?
edit - I got worried I had forgotten your actual birthday, but I hadn't.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:37, Reply)
I'm fine, thanking you kindly. You?
My birthday is next Wednesday. You're OK for the moment...
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:38, Reply)
I know, I just checked my calender
I have your birthday on it. And your wife's. And your address. And a little photo of you together.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:41, Reply)
Like, *together*, together?

(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:42, Reply)
Not *together* together just "together" together, like when you're together.
*stares a bit too long*
*left eye twitches slightly*
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:44, Reply)
Sorry
I can appreciate your viewpoint though it doesn't change mine. I'm just tired of everybody around me squawking about Thatcher whenever the Tories come up in conversation
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:39, Reply)
But what is your reasoning for voting for the tories?
Because all I've seen is "I'm not voting Labour"
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:41, Reply)
Because I love their education policy,
I actually agree with most of their economic policy (bar a few things) and I do like their social policies. It makes sense to me, and I genuinely feel that of the three current parties they make the most sense
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:45, Reply)
I agree with this as well
I think they're far better than Labour. If I was in a constituency where they might beat Labour I would vote for them. But I'm in Manchester were the proles all think the sun shines out of Labour's arse.

I want the Green party to win though.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:47, Reply)
I care about the environment
but I care a lot less about the environment than I do about other things, and the Greens have some crazy policies
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:48, Reply)
yeah they still stick to their hippy roots in some respects
but I think overall they care more about doing the world some good than the other parties. I don't know enough about it to really get in a fight with hardcore Labourites, but I like the Tories and I would be happy if they won.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:51, Reply)
I actually can't be bothered to argue with you
But I suspect that you are in a relatively privileged position and think that it is possible for people to work their way up from nothing to any position they want, but with the Conservative social policy all that happens is the rich keep getting richer and the poor stay in the gutter.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:50, Reply)
But with Labour the lazy seem to get rewarded
and the hardworking punished
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:51, Reply)

For one thing Labour brought in the minimum wage, the Tories were opposed to this measure and said it would destroy the economy. The conservatives were the ones that deregulated the banks and building societies. When Labour brought in new regulations the conservatives opposed them, saying they would destroy the city. Now the regulations were not stringent enough, but how much worse would the banking fuck up have been without the regulations we had?
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:57, Reply)
like I said
I don't know enough about it all to argue with a hardcore Labour fan, this is why I've so far been avoiding the political discussions on b3ta.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 17:01, Reply)
I'm very far from a hardcore Labour fan.

(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 17:03, Reply)
oh sorry
I haven't read all your political posts, I just assumed that from what you were saying about the other parties.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 17:06, Reply)
He fancies NICK CLEGG.

(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 17:40, Reply)
what do you call privileged?
Yeeeeah because Labour has really narrowed the gap between the rich and the poor haven't they? And the Lib Dems are totally the party of the disadvantaged. And actually the whole point of their education policy is geared towards more equal opportunities- the chance for poorer kids to get a decent education. Labour has made it convenient to simply refuse to work and still have an alright standard of living, while fucking the middle class over
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:57, Reply)
I agree with this
I'm sick of hearing people using "remember Thatcher!" as the cover-all for any argument.

Our dumb cat was being all nosey when my friend was getting her hair dyed at my hizzo and he rubbed up against the bottle and got a MASSIVE pink blotch on his neck

I was told:
- You have an above average number of legs.

- No, I have 2

...
...
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:30, Reply)
who told you that?
Was it king of the snakes?
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:32, Reply)
well you do
I doubt that many people have been born with an extra leg, while lots have lost one or both legs in accidents, so the average is only almost 2 legs
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:32, Reply)
Exactly
But it took me a while to realize.
(, Thu 22 Apr 2010, 16:35, Reply)
